Wonderful little hotel. Everything very very clean and modern. The food at the restaurant was to die for, we really enjoyed the pasta! The staff is very friendly, especially the bar/restaurant lady.

We enjoyed a lot our 8-nights stay in Certaldo during Christmas. The apartment is big, warm, well decorarle, comfortable and received a lot of sun light during the day. It had all that we needed for our stay. The host was very kind to provided a crib for our 1-year-old baby. We definitely recommend Tina's House. Wish you happy holidays.

We were in the Certaldo area the same week that Mercantia...

We were in the Certaldo area the same week that Mercantia was happening. It was vibrant, lively and super fun! We rode the funicular up to Certaldo Alto and had dinner at Ristorante l'Antica Fonte, walked around and enjoyed all of the performers, shops, street vendors and the spectacular view. We want to the lower part of Certaldo too, and really enjoyed the pottery shop of Ceramiche Artistiche Ninci.

I recommend it very highly as a base to explore that area of Tuscany as there is a fantastic train service and it's close to beautiful places. There is a great open air market on Wednesday, fabulous supermarket and lovely smaller shops (great ice cream too!) The proximity to the beautiful Certaldo Alto is simply amazing. I felt more like a local than a tourist there and the people are so friendly and helpful.

We enjoyed Certaldo Basso for our shopping needs - groceries, fuel, pharmacy, etc. We loved Certaldo Alto for the historic experience is offered. Gorgeous little village where we enjoyed gorgeous Tuscan food and wine!

The old city is wonderful. Worth to visit. Good restaurants in the neighbourhood. I recommend to have a dinner in Marchese Val d’Elsa. View is stunning and food delicious. And the trip to go there is beautiful with absolutely great views. You need a car. It’s a 20 min trip.

Certaldo was the perfect place to stay in Chianti region of...

Certaldo was the perfect place to stay in Chianti region of Tuscany. It had a train station so we could make our own way around to explore and sightsee. When visiting towns without a train, we took a taxi (NCC). Several people we met had rented cars and they found the area to be very drivable. Certaldo Basso (lower town) and Certaldo Alto (up the hill) are connected by scenic, natural walking paths and for those who prefer something easier, the very quaint Funiculare (1.5 Euro return). We stayed in Certaldo Alto, the historic centre of town. In addition to the fascinating museums - do not miss the Nail Museum - there are B & B's , apartments, and a lovely hotel. There are wonderful dining spaces inside and outside, bars and the wonderful Gelateria! In terms of crowds, there were occasional groups of tourists in Certaldo Alto but many times we were the only people walking down the cobbled roads in the middle of the day. The peace and quiet was most welcome after the throngs of people in Florence and Siena. Certaldo is a very special place. nestled in the heart of Tuscany.

This Medieval Borgo ranks among the most important in Italy for its history and access to both Florence and Siena. Additionally, this town is the birthplace of Giovanni Boccaccio and his featured in his major literature piece, The Decameron. The new part of town is accessible with simple 10 minutes walks or via a mini railway (for a charge of €1,50); but you can also drive, thanks to the host who will manage getting the required permits. Certaldo is very small but it sits at the crossroad of major communication roads, therefore it's easy to access Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Florence, and even Pisa.

I loved the location at the highest point in Certaldo with a breathtaking view overlooking the countryside. The courtyard where drinks and meals are served is equally spectacular. The rooms are beautiful on the first floor in keeping with the historical nature of the building and it’s a quiet location. Erik, the host, is amazing, super helpful and knowledgeable. I didn’t meet Eleonora but I sampled her artistry in the kitchen! You absolutely have to eat a meal there so creative and interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay!

The appartment was as it looks in the pictures and even better. It is spacious, beautiful, with a fully equiped kitchen and a wonderful balcony. Nicolas, the, host is very helpful Certaldo is calm with just the right amount of visitors during the day, with great places to visit and to eat and have a glass of wine, very conventiently located for easy visits to other places in Tuscany

lovely host - left us a gift basket and was very understanding. right next to the centre, like 2 minutes away from the train station, quiet/peaceful. everything was well functioning - had a lot of space and facilities to use. bed was the most comfortable we've stayed in by far during our tour of italy. wish i could stay here for longer! beautiful rustic vibe with lots of personality
