Everything is great here. There’s a full kitchen, a washer, a master bedroom with a very comfortable bed and an en suite bathroom. There’s also another full bathroom in the hallway. There’s a terrace shaded by olive trees and a courtyard with a pool. This is a home away from home. Maria and her daughter are just gems. If you’re coming to Monteroduni, stay here!

Monteroduni is a wonderful medieval town that likely has changed little over the centuries. Our AirB&B overlooked the town square that was flanked by a lovely church and the town hall.l and is near to a castle completed in 1163. Driving all the way to the property itself is impossible due to the town's very narrow roads/alleys and sharp turns, but we parked several hundred feet away with no inconvenience. Our room had a private bath, and shared kitchen and dining room that we didn't use. We intend to go back to this property since the town is my husband's family's ancestral home. Very clean.

We had to find a place at 10:00 at night and were fortunate enough to get this quaint Bed and Breakfast. Giovanni helped us to get settled in that late night. The apartment was clean and comfortable. In the morning we woke up to a majestic mountain view. The village was so charming. And the local grandmother baked us a decadent chocolate pie! Thank you Giovanni! We would love to stay here again! :)

In the annual national contest sponsored by RAI, 'Il Borgo...

In the annual national contest sponsored by RAI, 'Il Borgo dei Borghi', Monteroduni represented Molise. The pristine hilltop village of 600 came in eighth place, and was proudly relayed to me by the residents. A lovely place to visit as an excellent example of these small villages that really are the soul of rural Italy. The Castello Pignatelli, built by the Normans in the 11th Century stands out in the center of the town and is available for visitors to tour. There are a few good caffe-bars that provide nice vistas into the surrounding countryside and neighbouring mountains, as well as an excellent 'pizzeria' (it's really much better than just that, and imperative to make a booking). The last days of July are centered around the Eddie Lang Jazz Festival, and also worth visiting. Lovely village !
