The view from our junior suite with the sea view was beyond exceptional -- our little balcony was just above the main piazza on the water. The hotel communicates in advance of arrival and lets you know that if needed, they can help transfer baggage from the ferry. All of the staff were wonderful, including Umberto who checked us in early. The hotel breakfast is in a room that opens up to more water views, an unexpected joy on the day of our departure.

Apartment was comfortable and in a great location. Loved waking early for a stroll when nobody around. Most of the restaurants are beyond overpriced, this town needs to confront its tawdry image as a nasty tourist ripoff. But the natural beauty of Portofino helps to make up for that. The apartment was a refuge from the madness outside. Air con essential.

From SML to Portofino, the sidewalks and shops were not too crowded for peak summer though the beaches were quite crowded. It's quintessential Mediterranean with stunning vistas overlooking the town.

It is a very small place with little activities to do.

It is a very small place with little activities to do. A day trip without overnight stay is good enough. If you have covered Cinque Terre, it is not necessary to add this place to your itinerary. I do not recommend to stay at "Portofino Finestra sul Mare - Free Parking - AC" (Address: Piazza Martiri dell-Olivetta, 15, 16034 Portofino Italy). We loved Portofino!!

We loved Portofino!! We wish we had a few more days to do more of the local hikes and venture out on a boat but honestly it was our favourite spot in Italy and easy to get to via bus!! You can wonder around the streets or hop on the bus to other spots!! The views from the castle were AMAZING!!

The most amazing central apartment overlooking the harbour.

The most amazing central apartment overlooking the harbour. It had everything we needed for our 2 night stay, comms were great too, directions and access instructions clear. We drove to Santa Margarita and left the car there as parking in Portofino was very expensive. We took the ferry into Portofino (€11), the best way to arrive. There is also a bus (€5), cabs start at €45 for 5 mile trip.

Portofino is just beautiful, we took so many photos during our stay and if you ever visit you will know why! Apart from a couple of attractions, Castello Brown and the lighthouse there not much to do, but for a romantic weekend and gorgeous food and wine it is absolutely perfect!

A beautiful, natural harbour, adapted to suit visiting nautical travellers and a base for charter boats. A short climb to stunning views from a high elevation point and historic castle. Interesting shops and a small general store. Lots of dining choices - many on the waters edge. Most enjoyed early in the morning and later at night when there are less people. Inadequate and expensive parking with no options elsewhere. All in all - loved it!

The situation of the hotel could not have been better. It was directly overlooking the harbour with a fantastic view from the balcony. We used the balcony a lot as the weather was so nice to sit out and have a drink or a read. The staff were very pleasant and couldn’t do enough to help us. The breakfast was good and there was plenty of it.

Superb, perfectly formed apartment within 100 m from Portofino Marina! Wow, what a location. The car park is also 100 m at the other way so it’s all very, very convenient.
