If we ever get back to that part of Italy , we will for sure stay there .
The morning we left , Donatella brought the delicious chocolate bread for me that I had ordered at dinner for dessert . Small gestures but very much appreciated .

United StatesCharming family-run hotel: A great introduction to the area. I went in the wintertime, and the snow made it look even prettier. The room is huge and cozy with a big parking lot. You have the convenience of walking distance to the village center, but don't have to deal with driving/parking on narrow streets. The host left me a lot of yummy food for breakfast and snacks. I enjoyed staying at this place!

Santo Stefano di Sessanio is a small village which is...
Santo Stefano di Sessanio is a small village which is constantly being renovated following the 2009 and 2017 earthquakes bit it definitely maintains its charm as it is nestled just under the Gran Sasso massif with wonderful mountain views. It has several restaurants and one cafè and supermarket, but it is very quaint and definitely worth visiting and staying in.

The town is being revived and restored.
The town is being revived and restored. So I appreciated the historic aspect and efforts being made to bring in tourists. The road to the town was in great shape. With that said, there is really nothing to do there. We arrived on a night, I believe it was a Wednesday when all the restaurants but 2 were closed. The better restaurant was completely booked and we had to go with the only other choice open for our large group. The food was terrible and overpriced. Nothing else was open in town for even a drink!! There are many other places to go and see in Abruzzo, this would not be one of them. Maybe in a few years when the restoration is complete.

We expected luxury in a uniquely rustic environment and we weren’t disappointed. The view from our room window was stunning as was the view from the restaurant terrace. Candle light created a warm atmosphere. But the highlight was the quality of the service. A positive culture which was contagious amongst the guests. Thanks to all. We ate at ala Locanda each night and were very happy with the diversity and quality of the menu. We hiked to Rocca Calascio, drove to the observatory and walked, had lunch at the refuge on Campo Imperatore where we BBQed our meat bought from the refuge. On the way back to Rome we visiting L’Aquila, the sophisticated capital of the region.

It's a very cozy house with a small terrace/garden with a view of Santo Stefano di Sessanio and Castelvecchio.
Due to the old thick walls the temperature inside the house is nice and cool while it's hot outside.
Even though we didn't get to meet our host, they were very friendly and gave us all the information we needed during our stay. They also provided a baby cot when we asked for it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful stay!
Everything was perfect – the hotel was spotless, cozy, and welcoming. The owner was extremely kind and helpful, always attentive and ready to assist. The location is ideal for exploring the Gran Sasso area and the towns of Abruzzo. The on-site restaurant was fantastic, with delicious food at very reasonable prices. Highly recommended!

The most beautiful home in Santo Stefano di Sessanio.Spotless and clean and comfortable.The host Vincenzo was warm and friendly.There if you needed him,otherwise he was very private.All in all 10 out of 10.If you complain about anything here there's definitely something wrong with you.We will return

I had an incredible stay at this hotel—far beyond my expectations! The staff were exceptionally hospitable, recommending fantastic places to visit and even offering to customize the breakfast to fit my preferences. Highly recommend this place for an unforgettable experience!
