The ride with Ape Calessino was overpriced but the driver, Antonio, was well infomed, kind and suggested us some really nice places, The Trattoria La Piazzetta was one of them and we all enjoyed out food there.

Taranto is like many other Italian towns and cities: squalor living cheek by jowl with luxury. The Old Town is maze-like, claustrophobic and just a little bit scary. The newer area beyond the castle is, however, very pleasant. There's not much to do but eat and drink unless some event is going on. Do visit the castle.

Fantastic Archaeological museum with fabulous ceramics, some of the best from earliest civilisations, well displayed with good lighting and English translations for general info and for each item. Worth going to Taranto just for that. Castle and very small island old city with very narrow laneways and good restaurants and the cathedral which is beautiful. Local buses work well and many from train station which is good as taxis not there at all.

A delightful small city with an undeveloped historic centre on an island. Good train connections to Bari and Lecce, less so to Naples.
Convenient for excursions to Matera, Alberobello (trulli houses) and the southern Puglian countryside.
Taranto cathedral full of pietra dura and, in the crypt, medieval frescos. Interesting Archaeological Museum with Greek and Roman finds, especially Greek black and orange vases and Roman mosaics.

The new section along the canal with bridge opposite the castle was postcard perfect .Something like this you will not find in many cities around the world.The old Città Vecchia was absolutely beautiful,the food was too die for.We were blown away by Taranto old culture v the new century.
I commend the commune with the ongoing restoration of old culture buildings.They are improving a city that has everything.
Food sculpture people.10/10.

The room was very comfortable and the design was quite original. The ceiling was unique and the bathroom had original features. Our room was on the ground floor which suited us perfectly as some of the other rooms were on floors with steep stairways. The breakfast on the roof terrace was a very nice experience in itself. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The venue is in the heart of what Taranto has to offer so 10/10 for location. Michelus, our contact and the guy who served breakfast, was very helpful and friendly.

La Casa dei Due Mari is an impressive, brand new apartment that offers plenty of space and comfort. With two large bedrooms, two bathrooms and everything you could need, it's perfect for families or groups. The secure, enclosed courtyard parking gave us real peace of mind. Check-in was seamless and the host was kind and helpful. Location-wise, the beach and local restaurants are easy to reach, though the city centre requires a short drive. Overall a fantastic base for exploring the Taranto area — we'd happily recommend it!

Andrea is the perfect host,if you are traveling by public transport then the location is perfect. The restaurant over the road which Andrea recommended is possibly the best value in Italy and great food too. I recommend you look no further for accommodation in Taranto..

Beautiful little hotel reasonably close to the station yet on the Taranto island. We had a terrace room, light, spacious, and elegant. Staff helpful and friendly.
