Balcony onsen bath and zen garden overlooking the pines and the sea were special. Excellent seafood. Very friendly and helpful staff. 2011 tsunami memorial plaque and bell were poignant.

We stayed At Kyukamura Rikuchu Miyako as we intended to hike the MCT trail. It may be a little out of the way for some, but was the perfect location for our purpose.

Park Hotel is clearly a high end hotel catering to the sufficiently affluent, with good class facilities, service and food. We were treated well even tho we had hiked for 6 hours in the snow and looked like a trio of disheveled backpackers. The staff took extra effort to explain things in English to us, even introducing the local breakfast delicacies so we knew what we were eating.
