The hotel was so lovely. I really enjoyed the tatami flooring and the act of having to take your shoes off once you entered the venue. The staff were amazing and the customer service impeccable. Sensoji Temple was in walking distance and the surrounding area was so lively.

Incredible view. The location was also good, 8-10 minutes from Shinjuku station, and around a 5 minute walk to a ton of bars and restaurants. Breakfast was very good, but it would be nice if they changed the menu more frequently.

We adored our time here and felt completely relaxed. You could opt to stay here for the delicious breakfast buffet alone - featuring rotating Japanese foods as well as Western food, coffee, tea, and cute little pastries (milk buns are best!). However the staff and location set this spot apart in our opinion. Check in was simple, friendly, and the staff were fluent in english. However the staff at breakfast were extra kind. They explained everything to us from the process of timing, to some fun casual chats with them about our stay. It was so sweet. They asked if we had enough food, if we were cold (I had a short sleeved shirt on), and told us to take our time. We had a room on the third floor that overlooked the delightful little bamboo grove. Highly recommend relaxing in the chairs among those shoots if you have time. Everything was very clean. Location is truly 2 minutes from the nearest train station. The neighbourhood is safe and quiet. Excellent value for money in this classy spot.

We booked only a week ahead of our stay in Japan, and was only able to secure a standard double room at the Muji Hotel Ginza as the other rooms were fully booked. The room was relatively small as expected, but modern and well appointed. It was very comfortable for two for a 2N stay. The location was ideal for our short stay, within walking distance to Tsukiji and shops in Ginza. It was only a 7-10min taxi ride (C$8-10) from Tokyo Station in non-peak hours. The room had automatic blinds as well as lighting and temperature controls. It was also well soundproofed to allow restful sleep. No street or hallway noise whatsoever. The shower was nearly full western size, complemented by Muji products which was better quality than expected. The room came with complimentary tea in the lounge from 4-7pm, which we took advantage of after a day of walking. The one thing that stood out was the service. Despite how busy the front desk was, they provided great suggestions for dinner and made reservations for us. And the night prior to our departure, the desk manager prepared our luggage service waybill and personally contacted the hotel to which we were sending it to, to ensure a smooth check out the next morning and our luggage would be accepted without delay. My apologies for not having noted the names of the manager and receptionists, but I am so grateful for your help and for going above and beyond. It was a pleasant stay and I would definitely come back again.

FAQs about hotels in Tokyo

See It to Believe It!

The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a vast, teeming metropolis nestled between mountains and Tokyo Bay. It’s so huge that you’ll have to come to grips with public transport and maybe even experience being pushed onto a train. Yes, it does actually happen!

Get your bearings by ascending the Tokyo World Trade Center near the waterfront, and savor the fantastic views taking in the red-and-white Tokyo Tower and Shinkuju’s skyscrapers. North is Ueno, home to the best museums (including the Tokyo National Museum) and a large park bursting with cherry blossom in spring.

Equally tranquil are the Chiyoda Imperial Palace and Gardens, surrounded by water. Also in gardens is the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Shibuya, a youthful district where neon abounds.

For more traditional Japanese culture, head to Asakusa whose Sensō-ji Buddhist temple is Tokyo’s oldest temple. Outdoor markets sell a variety of wares, though shopping in Tokyo is, of course, fantastic wherever you go.

Whether you stay in a Japanese ryokan, luxury Tokyo hotel or a hostel, don’t fly out of Tokyo Narita Airport or Haneda Airport without having tried sushi. Another Japanese institution is the sento (public bath) and onsen (hot springs bath) – a must try. Also incredibly popular are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Asia’s 2 most visited theme parks.

Tokyo is a vibrant group of cities that continuously offers up amazing experiences at every turn! The transit system is efficient and reliable, meaning it is fairly easy to get from one place to the next. Signage in English is really helpful for navigation purposes. Given that it's a big area, it does take time to get from one place to the next; thus, keeping that in mind helps with planning. I found it was best to aim for 1 major activity or 2 smaller activities each day so that I could make the most of my time without feeling rushed or stressed. As someone who loves gardens, I was pleased to see that there is no shortage of green spaces to visit. When it gets too hot outside, there are also a ton of museums one could explore. If not for my tighter budget, I would have liked to stay longer in Tokyo to check off more things from my to-do list, although I could never run out of things to try (the same goes for food!). There are a lot of people and crowds with which to contend, but there are also many different areas to see and the less popular or touristy spots tend to be a lot more calm for those seeking a more tranquil visit. There is truly something for everyone in Tokyo!

Five days is a great length for Tokyo with family — enough...

Five days is a great length for Tokyo with family — enough time to cover the major highlights (Meiji Jingu, Shibuya, Akihabara, Asakusa) without feeling rushed, while still leaving room to breathe between them. **Overall trip highlights:** - Solid mix of culture (shrines, temples), energy (Shibuya, Akihabara), and calm home base (Asakusa) gave the trip good variety without overloading each day - Basing yourselves in Asakusa paid off — quieter at night, well-connected, close to restaurants, and the hotel's luggage storage made multi-stop travel painless - The heat was clearly a factor (as you found at Meiji Jingu) — worth building "early morning or evening" into the plan for any outdoor-heavy days **Public transport — the one real friction point:** - Weekday rush hours in Tokyo are genuinely intense — packed to the point where personal space disappears, especially on lines like the Yamanote or anything running through major hubs (Shinjuku, Shibuya) - Family with kids or luggage in that crush is rough; it's one of the few times Tokyo's efficiency works against comfort rather than for it - Easy fix for future trips: shift sightseeing travel to avoid roughly 7:30–9:30am and 5:30–7:30pm on weekdays, or hop one station earlier/later than the crowd surge **What worked well as a family:** - Dietary limitations (no lamb, pork, beef) required extra research, but sushi, tempura, soba/udon, and chicken-based dishes came through as reliable fallbacks - Free-flowing itinerary between big attractions and quieter neighborhood time balanced out the intensity of peak spots like Shibuya Crossing **For next time:** - Building in one buffer day or half-day with no fixed plans helps absorb heat, crowds, or an unexpectedly good find - IC cards (Suica/Pasmo) if not already used make navigating the packed transport system at least frictionless in terms of payment

The location is great. About 13 minutes of a walk yo Shinjuku station. There is a great breakfast place that opens at 7am near the hotel, by the the Shinjuku Chuo Central Park called Musashino Mori diner if you want fluffy Japanese pancakes, sooo good. The park in front of the hotel is a great place to go for a walk and relax or grab coffee for those Starbucks lovers. Because of the location, the hotel gets busy. Has complimentary toiletries at the lobby. A Restaurant and a bakery. Fabulous location and highly recommended.

Superb location from Ningyocho Station by walk. The staff was so nice and friendly to me. I just got injured in somehow as I did not feel any pain before going back hotel room. When I noted the blood having been stained on the duvet, my unintentional apologies to hotel staff were made immediately. The staff always helped me and asked me if I needed medicine or bandages without additional charging. The continual help up to my check out time made me feel so warm.

I actually liked the location as it's well located by the metro station and it's midway between Shibuya/Shinjuku to the west and Asakusa to the north east. The area around the hotel is quiet and corporate but if you walk around you will discover a fair few bars/restaurants about 10 minutes away. Rooms were spotless and had a Japanese style bath and coffee capsules were provided everyday. The rooftop onsen was a welcome touch
