The hotel was so lovely. I really enjoyed the tatami flooring and the act of having to take your shoes off once you entered the venue. The staff were amazing and the customer service impeccable. Sensoji Temple was in walking distance and the surrounding area was so lively.

Incredible view. The location was also good, 8-10 minutes from Shinjuku station, and around a 5 minute walk to a ton of bars and restaurants. Breakfast was very good, but it would be nice if they changed the menu more frequently.

We adored our time here and felt completely relaxed. You could opt to stay here for the delicious breakfast buffet alone - featuring rotating Japanese foods as well as Western food, coffee, tea, and cute little pastries (milk buns are best!). However the staff and location set this spot apart in our opinion. Check in was simple, friendly, and the staff were fluent in english. However the staff at breakfast were extra kind. They explained everything to us from the process of timing, to some fun casual chats with them about our stay. It was so sweet. They asked if we had enough food, if we were cold (I had a short sleeved shirt on), and told us to take our time. We had a room on the third floor that overlooked the delightful little bamboo grove. Highly recommend relaxing in the chairs among those shoots if you have time. Everything was very clean. Location is truly 2 minutes from the nearest train station. The neighbourhood is safe and quiet. Excellent value for money in this classy spot.

We booked only a week ahead of our stay in Japan, and was only able to secure a standard double room at the Muji Hotel Ginza as the other rooms were fully booked. The room was relatively small as expected, but modern and well appointed. It was very comfortable for two for a 2N stay. The location was ideal for our short stay, within walking distance to Tsukiji and shops in Ginza. It was only a 7-10min taxi ride (C$8-10) from Tokyo Station in non-peak hours. The room had automatic blinds as well as lighting and temperature controls. It was also well soundproofed to allow restful sleep. No street or hallway noise whatsoever. The shower was nearly full western size, complemented by Muji products which was better quality than expected. The room came with complimentary tea in the lounge from 4-7pm, which we took advantage of after a day of walking. The one thing that stood out was the service. Despite how busy the front desk was, they provided great suggestions for dinner and made reservations for us. And the night prior to our departure, the desk manager prepared our luggage service waybill and personally contacted the hotel to which we were sending it to, to ensure a smooth check out the next morning and our luggage would be accepted without delay. My apologies for not having noted the names of the manager and receptionists, but I am so grateful for your help and for going above and beyond. It was a pleasant stay and I would definitely come back again.

It was an amazing location for the airport and to get all up on them TRAINs boiii! The area itself maybe didn't have much (they were also under construction of some new cool looking shiz-not sure exactly; but looking real fancy) but the train stations were right there! I could use the popular local Tokyo lines like Yamanote, or the Keikyu line-which is direct to Haneda. And I didn't have to deal with Shinagawa at all!!!!

Very close to the station and there was room to store our language within the hotel rooms, all necessary facilities are located on the 20th floor and we also had access to an onsen which was a very nice experience. It was also very useful to have a money to coin exchanger on the same floor as the laundry in case there was a lack of coins.

Tokyo is a vibrant group of cities that continuously offers up amazing experiences at every turn! The transit system is efficient and reliable, meaning it is fairly easy to get from one place to the next. Signage in English is really helpful for navigation purposes. Given that it's a big area, it does take time to get from one place to the next; thus, keeping that in mind helps with planning. I found it was best to aim for 1 major activity or 2 smaller activities each day so that I could make the most of my time without feeling rushed or stressed. As someone who loves gardens, I was pleased to see that there is no shortage of green spaces to visit. When it gets too hot outside, there are also a ton of museums one could explore. If not for my tighter budget, I would have liked to stay longer in Tokyo to check off more things from my to-do list, although I could never run out of things to try (the same goes for food!). There are a lot of people and crowds with which to contend, but there are also many different areas to see and the less popular or touristy spots tend to be a lot more calm for those seeking a more tranquil visit. There is truly something for everyone in Tokyo!

Musashino is a Tokyo city suburb - accessible to central Tokyo in 20 minutes. Musashino area includes Kichijoji with a huge variety of dept stores, shops, eateries, restaurants of all cuisine types, and also the wonderful large Inogashira Park and its large pond, as well as Ghibli Museum. Fuchu was a wonderful town to stay in on the outskirts of Tokyo. It has a slower, more relaxed atmosphere than central tokyo. The people were friendly and there was plenty to do and see. The tree lined main street leading to the temple was beautiful. And there were some local parks that were nice to walk to.

The island is lovely and has many outdoor activities. But you will likely need to rent a car to reach some of the more remote areas easily. There are buses and taxis, but you may have to wait quite a bit of time. Many of the restaurants will close during the afternoon and early evening, so be sure to have some snacks prepared or stay in a place with a kitchen.

Machida has everything you need for shopping plus the Odakyu Line into Shinjuku or the Yokohama Line into Yokohama if you need to hit the big time. Still comoared to most North American towns, Westerners will think Machida is HUUUUGE and super busy. For Kanto region I'd saw it's a hub for Kanagawa but manageable. Food choices at and around the station are excellent. Hotels are way cheaper than in central Tokyo yet you are only 30 to 60 mins on any train to wherever you need to go. Direct buses from Narita and Henda airports as well so no need to deal with hauling luggage on trains. Or just takyubin (courier) luggage to Mahcida from airport.

Most important: Rent a car when visiting.

Most important: Rent a car when visiting. The island isn't suited for exploration by foot. The distance between places of interest can be great and the whole island is full of steep slopes. I rented an electric bike and would only recommend it to people who have the explicit goal of biking. It is worth noting that you can reach the island by ferry AND plane. Taking the ferry has three sleeping options - I STRONGLY advise against anything but the most expensive one. I don't know if the first class is good, I just know that the other two are a surefire way to a bad night. Taking the plane is about as expensive or even cheaper than first class on the ferry, only takes an hour, and isn't a 10 hour ship ride. IF you take the ship to the island, I strongly recommend taking the plane back. The ferry leaves for Hachjiojima at 22:30 and arrives at 9:00 - an overnight trip. But it leaves the island at 9:30 and arrives in Tokyo at ~20:00, meaning you lose an entire day. Regarding the island itself: I think some of the highlights are climbing Hachijofuji and exploring the abandoned Royal Hotel. Both are manageable within a day. Depending on the weather, Hachijo has a beautiful night sky - it's not called Dark Sky Island for nothing. Other things worth doing are visiting Plant Park in the west of the island and exploring the southern side. There are some nice onsen experiences to be had in the south, but not all of them are open at all times. Planning a trip of two days, - arrival by ferry at 9 AM, doing things, spending a night, doing things and leaving by plane at 5 PM, - seems prudent choice. It's a subtropical island, which you might want to keep in mind if you plan on visiting in summer.

Love this neighbourhood.

Love this neighbourhood. I lived in Japan for several years, 2 decades ago, and I have gone back a few times for a visit. First time for me to be in Tachikawa. It has great vibe, a bit of hustle bustle, but not crowded and suffocating like Shinjuku or Shibuya. Lots of shops and cheap restaurants. Not touristy at all and you can observe locals doing their everyday business if that is your thing.
