The house is splendid. This is new. This is Japanese style, but you sleep very well on futons. You can separate the parties in 2 different rooms. All the sheets and towels are offered wrapped very clean. There is a piano. That was a plus since one of our travelers did play on it and very well. You can cook a Japanese meal in one of the table in the center with a grill. The interaction with the people managing the property was very good via the booking messaging and at checking in person. We used Google Translate: no issue. Note that the location is isolated. 2 hours driving south of Kagoshima. But this is the charm ... to get to know the rural Japan.

This was such a wonderful getaway. Very relaxing, great food and staff. Booked for 2 nights and ended up extending for 2 more.

The interior (lobby area) had a Hawaii atmosphere. The hotel had a large souvenir shop, with snacks and drinks. We had half board included, and had a nice meal in the evening including drinks. The kids got a kids meal plate. We tried the sand-bath at the hotel, nice experience. For us it was included in the price. It was raining, but we still used the outdoors pool. The rooms had comfortable sleeping mattresses (on the floor) instead of hard futons. It was very OK altogether.

Guests at Ibusuki Kaijo Hotel can enjoy indoor hot spring baths and a "Sunamushi" mud bath made from sand mixed with steam from hot-spring water.
