The hotel was a 10-minute walk from the station. It is located just one street across the historical area which was extremely convenient. the breakfast was exceptional. Amazing variety and very tasty. The onsen was a big bonus. It was opened 24/7. We arrived 30 minutes early and thought we would be able to check in, however, we couldn't. We left our luggage and went to explore. Later when we checked in, the staff had already taken our luggage to our room.

This hotel is really comfortable and incredibly good value. It is well-located. It's close to the historical area and has lots of good eating options around. It's about a 10 minute walk to the railway station. Staff were very accommodating and, for us, the facilities were exactly what we needed. Also, if you get a chance, try the afternoon tea - it's great.

The owner, the building, the food

The hotel is in a wonderful location - the hotel can be accessed directly from the center street shortcut tunnel to the Bikan Historical quarter, right across the street from the train station. Rooms were very well equipped, beds were quite comfortable. Appreciated the local touches in the rooms, i.e. canvas/textile goods. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Very much enjoyed the upper floor view lounge, not only the panoramic view but also the varied and well presented drink amenities. The public bath was wonderful, nicely equipped and spacious. Very much enjoyed our stay and would love to return!

The manager and staff were very kind and helpful. The room was super clean. The location was great. The hotel was very close to the train station and the Bikan historical quarter.

It was so quiet! Normally I have a hard time sleeping in hotels but the rooms were so quiet it wasnt an issue!

The location, facilities and the hotel staff were all excellent. The breakfast was 10 out of 10. I had the best sleep in Japan so far. I would definitely come back again. 😊

Easily walkable from two train stations. Simple, comfortable room. Good size with a small couch and table for work or eating, which is a plus.

Close to the historic district. Provided as much coffee as you wanted. Comfortable bed. Nice tub to soak in. Quiet place

Dinner and breakfast was excellent.

Ideal location, old style hotel with atmosphere, nice corner room in annex with very comfortable beds and everything one needs for a good stay. A fridge, little essentials, good lighting. The welcome was also very courteous. Plentiful buffet style breakfast was included.

The property was gorgeous, so well designed with modern touches but a traditional feel. We stayed in both junior suites and the maisonette and all were beautifully designed and decorated. The maisonette was two floors so could be tough for older people. The staff was friendly and helpful and made our group feel so welcome and comfortable. The food was amazing and the chef was lovely, chatting with our group each night and kindly tweaking the menu whenever needed for the picky people in our group. I can see this ryokan becoming very quickly widely recognized for its outstanding quality, design, and service. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Yoruya and I hope to stay here again someday.

We are so glad that we stayed in Kurashiki and this hotel. It is such a beautiful place and the hotel was close to the historical quarter which was stunning. The hotel was comfortable and provided everything we required.

Very clean comfortable place with simple modern design. We stayed in the second floor room and love the balcony, where there was a chair to sit and enjoy the quiet neighbourhood. No front desk check-in just use pin sent by email few days before stay to access room. The property garden was beautiful and great atmosphere overall.

Kurishiki is a good mid point between Fukuyama and Okayama if traveling under your own power. Small town and a little backward in a good way.
