This charming minshuku-style villa is four wishes in one: 1. A traditional abode that looks like a heritage ‘kominka’ from the outside complete with plastered walls, its own mini garden, and bedrooms with tatami and wooden chests. 2. A view of a quintessential Kochi scenery: the sight and sound of the pristine Niyodo river flowing just 2 minutes’ walk outside, and a ‘submersible’ bridge, which in itself is a star attraction of the area. If you thought the village, the bridge, and the river looked like a film set, it actually is: it appeared in a recent anime! 3. Proximity to prime sights in the area. Apart from the Aso bridge that is in full view outside the house, it is also only 25 minutes away from Nakatsu gorge, and a bit further lie the other pretty ‘Niyodo Blue!’ spots. 4. Art works from various artists abound in this guesthouse. The keeper of the guesthouse, Chris, is an artist himself. I don’t know much about art but I think Chris’ paintings and art were great, especially after flipping through his book!

The location was absolutely stunning. It's so remote you feel like you might be the only person there. The house was beautiful with great facilities. And the host was super friendly and helpful.

We were anxious about the accommodation being close to the road, but it was not an issue at all. Our bedroom balcony extended over the picturesque riverbed. The guest house has recently been renovated in a tasteful, thoughtful manner. We have stayed at accommodations of all budgets, from private multi level ocean front houses to places like this with shared bathrooms. We loved our stay here, there were ample bathrooms, they were modern and immaculately clean, we enjoyed meeting other guests and finding out tips on where to go. The hosts David and Yoshiko are amazing. The Family Mart next door was handy for snacks. Our two teens enjoyed as much as we did the Ramen restaurant and Izakaya close by. Two nights here was not enough for our family of four ( two teens, mom and dag )

Very conveniently located to catch the ferry. The host was very accommodating and really went out of her way to take care of her guests. Having free loaner bikes to ride out to temple 36 was a huge bonus.

Beautiful house with stunning views onto the mountains and rice fields. A well furnished kitchen, big bathtub and washer and dryer. Nice aesthetics. Clean clean clean! Our hosts run the fabulous restaurant next door, which is the easiest way to locate the house. Really nice people. Luxurious stay. Loved the hammock and outdoor patio furniture.

The property is beautiful and the perfect location for pilgrims who are walking the northern route or who are taking the ferry the next day. Great facilities and comfortable rooms! Also, the hosts are tremendously kind and a lot of fun!

Hotel is on a hill overlooking a river. Looks almost like a castle in Europe. I think all the rooms face the river; and the views are great from room balconies. Breakfast buffet is very good, with Japanese and Western food selections.

This is a great, affordable place to stop along the shikoku pilgrimage route. I stayed 2 nights. The nights before and after temple 35, walking without a bag for that day was so nice and gave my legs a mild break with plenty of time to do laundry, clean, and reorganize my gear. Since it's so affordable it makes a great place for a rest day. Walking distance to a great grocery store and conbinis.
