We enjoyed our stay. It was a touch difficult to find via taxi but we managed. It is located quite close to the Shizuoka shinkansen train station, so it is actually quite conveniently located. Our accommodation was spacious and had all the amenities we needed; laundry, tub, kitchenette, futons . Very clean, very comfortable. Appreciated the touches of POLA products, of local Shizuoka Green Tea, of being close to a Lawson's conbini. Actually wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend. I

We were only looking for a cheap one-night stay, but this place far exceeded our expectations. For the price, the value is outstanding. We had a small tub, free bath powders from the hotel, complimentary drinks, plenty of good restaurants nearby, and the station is just a three-minute walk away. would definitely want to come stay again.

Great value! Great buffet breakfast with lots of healthy options. Rice (one day mushroom), noodles (stir-fried w a few veggies), miso soup that you can add dehydrated seaweed and tofu to that grows astronomically!, little sides of seaweed and veggies, egg, fresh salad, croissants, jam, yogurt with fruit, etc. And this special Kale w optional Milk drink. I didn't love it but my husband drank it. You gotta love a commitment to offering kale drink. They had a pillow bar with every type of pillow you could want. We stuck with the ones that came standard. Great little amenities bar with comb/brush, toothbrushes (soft, medium, and hard - though you should always use soft!), body scrubbing towel, Q-tips, face cleanser, etc. Small rooms just fit all that you need: bed, desk, chair, bathroom, TV, suitcase rack, shoe polisher, flashlight, good lighting, shower gel/shampoo/conditioner, etc. You could really show up here with nothing and be fine.

We wanted to explore more and arrived early. We left our luggage at the reception/office. The staff even help to move our luggage to the place we booked. By the way they manage a few room types at different locations if this is helpful for others.

A great city off the golden route, with a strong association with crafts from the traditional to the modern plastic model boom. Definitely visit Sumpu castle and the observation deck on the 21st floor of the prefectural office. Maps lists another observation deck in the city hall to the south but that doesn’t seem to still exist and would be four floors lower if it did. If you like nature at all be sure to hit up Miho no Matsubara for a lovely beach, a beautiful pine grove, and great views of Mt Fuji if the weather permits. Be aware that the restaurants at that location are open on an odd schedule or something, so maybe eat near the train station.

Shizuoka is a hidden gem.

Shizuoka is a hidden gem. You can stay here and get to many sightseeing destinations by rail (day trips) and come back to the relaxation of more laidback location. Locals are very pleasant and friendly, not so jaded by the over tourism of Kyoto and Osaka. We speak very limited Japanese, but were welcomed and managed in small local restaurants and Izakayas.

Shizuoka's shinkanesen train station is packed full of interesting shops and restaurants. We absolutely loved browsing as we waited for our train. Our visit in Shizuoka was much too short. I would have like to walk through the park (Sumpu) Walk through the city and explore more of the department stores. We got to see a local tea farm but it would have been great to visit more. We tried Sushiro which was really fun and delicious and better than most of the sushi restaurants in Montreal.

We hated it. We felt unsafe, boxed in.

We hated it. We felt unsafe, boxed in. My friend is fluent in Japanese but even she was having trouble making the staff understand even small things. It’s a love hotel. Very disturbing. Sextoy magasine, prostitute magasine, locked doors that only open when you call and ask the staff to open the doors. Staff that didn’t understand. Making me pay for two rooms when giving us just one room.

Shizuoka city has the pleasant atmosphere of a sizable city with a country feel. I love Shizuoka and of course, that big mountain is always visible in the near vicinity when it's not hanging with its cloudy mates.

The hotel isn't far from the train station, several convenience stores and Shizuoka's main shopping area. I liked the tiled genkan area to the room. The shower was excellent, there was a towel rail and I liked that the toilet controls were wall-mounted. The window could be opened and at least there was a view of the street. The fridge opens the right way! The amenities were plentiful and there was even a pillow bar where you could choose from several different pillow fillings (though some of the pillows smelled of smoke).

The hotel was very close to the train station, and close to a lot of shops and restaurants, which was very comvenient. There is also a nice looking restaurant and cafe inside the hotel, though we did not find time to try it. The hotel itself is clean and elegant. Our room was a bit small, but clean and has comfy bed, and has a nice view being at the 11th floor. The staff at the reception were nice and friendly. We will sure pick this hotel again if we come back to Shizuoka.
