Siem Reap is most famous, of course, for Angkor Wat, a fantastic historically-important monument to the Angkor regime (9th to 14th centuries, roughly). But definitely go to the other temples, and spend some time in them, reflecting on both the architecture and the symbolism that they convey. Siem Reap itself is still much quieter since Covid, but it is slowly picking up again. The reality is, though, that what was a genuinely thriving economy now only just about sustains the population there, and they are, understandably, struggling to survive. So although the market ladies and the tuktuk drivers etc. sound as if they are just annoying you and in-your-face, the reality is that they need some sort of custom just to keep their families going. So if you have that spare $5, just buy the unnecessary scarf or t-shirt, or spend an hour just being driven around the town in a nice, open-air remorque. Don't be an easy target, but also don't sweep them away totally thoughtlessly. Any of us could, I fear, one day have found ourselves in the same situation.

The Cambodian people are very nice and friendly, The Wats are amazing and well worth the visits. The Killing field Wat was well worth a visit and gives you an insight into the period The food was good and the Town was enjoyable and the nice thing is you do not get hassled much Cambodia is not a cheap Country, they use a lot of American dollars and they know how to charge for things. It’s not much cheaper than the Uk for drinks and food when eating out

Siem Reap is a great place overall, nice innocent people around, full greenary, with lots of temples though got ruined by constant invaders still gives a fine feeling that a Temple is a place of worship for ever, convenience of USD everywhere etc., The best is Angkor Wat Temple or would say The well perserved of the lot. Borei Angkor Resort & Spa a great hotel to say .. Dakshin and Modiji Indian Resturants are good enough to dine. Tuk Tuk will take care of your local travel needs and its fun to go for a ride and costs few dollars only for 4 pax. Bakong Tourist App is a big disaster - it never worked and did not allow to add funds from any Debit or a Credit card. They can improve to fix the app for QR code payment convenicene.

We absolutely loved our first visit to Siem Reap. Its historical significance is immense and the upkeep of Angkor Wat is most impressive. In and around the city it was easy to navigate and choices for our vegetarian requirements were ample.

Peaceful and serene. Perfect place to relax and lay low.

Peaceful and serene. Perfect place to relax and lay low. Food and drinks are cheap, make sure to check out local restaurants. Western food outlets such as Burger King or Dominos Pizza won't be so affordable. For shopping there are few local products. Most are imported from neighboring countries or from the capital, Phnom Penh. Good for 4 to 5 days max. Just cover Angkor Wat, I suggest taking the 3 days ticket if you want to thoroughly explore the temples, and the shops near the river and that's about it. We're considering going back next time when the weather is cooler. It is a walkable place and I feel like if you walk around, many hidden gems can be found. Consider seeking out Saarti. It is a boutique perfume house known for its hand‑crafted fragrances, local Cambodian ingredients, and a warm, artisanal atmosphere. It blends traditional perfumery with modern elegance, offering signature scents, home aromas, and personalized fragrance experiences that highlight the region’s rich botanical heritage. For souvenirs, we have been offered scarves, keychains and bracelets for $1.00 at the entrance of Ta Prohm, so grab these goodies from there. You'll be helping out the local vendors as well.

The city is vibrant, lots of wonderful places to eat and so much to see. The people of Siem Reap were friendly and warm and really made the trip. Easy to get around and cheap too, so much history and culture and wonderful place I would love to visit again. Close access to temples, the lake, museums, history, lotus farms are a must visit - we went in low season and it was fairly quiet and weather was great - would love to visit again and would recommend for couples, singles and families with teenagers.

Fantastic oasis of calm in Siem Reap. But what made it extra special for me were the kind attentive staff headed up by Anita who was truly amazing. She thought of everything- was so attentive and greeted us so warmly as we returned to the hotel after day trips. Also a special mention to Smy who drove us on two day trips. A very kind and warm person. The hotel stay was made 5 star by the people!! Thank you to all.
