One of the best places I've stayed in. Beautiful house with a beautiful garden. The family that runs the place was extremely nice. The place is very quiet and serunded by jungle, but it is very close to the beach. Took me 3 minutes to walk with my surfboard to south-beach. I recommend it very much.

The resort has a great location. Rooms are very clean and spacious. The breakfast is yummy. We were greeted by Sajeeth, the hotel manager; he was very supportive during our stay. The resort is by the lake and the beach is across the road- literally five mins. You can also see the fishermen on stilts on this beach. Ahangama is only three kms. You can explore this town as you enjoy your stay at this hotel. You can do a boat safari in the lake or swim in the beautiful pools. So many options.

This place is a true hidden gem and most reviews have not done it justice. It sits on a very calm stretch of beach, right next to a surf spot in the area, which makes it ideal whether you want to relax by the ocean or catch waves nearby. The setting feels peaceful and unspoiled, yet it is centrally located in Ahangama, with easy access to everything around. The rooms are comfortable, well kept, and designed for a relaxed beachfront stay. What truly elevates the experience is the restaurant. The food is exceptional and easily among the best in Ahangama, with every dish prepared with care and quality ingredients. Between the calm beach, surf access, prime location, and outstanding dining, this property offers far more than it may first appear. It is one of those rare places that quietly exceeds expectations and stays with you long after you leave.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel with our family and would definitely rate it 5 out of 5. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, taking the time to recommend places to visit and restaurants in the area, which made our trip even more enjoyable. The check-in and check-out process was smooth, and our room was comfortable, quiet, and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was fresh and delicious, and although the swimming pool was small, it was clean and enjoyable. The hotel’s location is very convenient for visiting the beach, Madol Doowa, and the museum. It was excellent value for money and very family-friendly. We traveled with our one-year-old child, and the staff were kind enough to help prepare food for her, which we really appreciated. We honestly have no complaints. We would definitely stay here again, and next time we’d plan for more than one day so we can fully enjoy both the hotel and the beautiful beach.

Nestled just a short stroll from the surf-famous Kabalana Beach and surrounded by lush greenery, the resort offers the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcome and safe — which is something I really value when traveling alone. They were warm, attentive, and eager to offer local tips, from the best sunset spots to must-try cafes and tuk-tuk routes. The room was spacious, minimalist yet cozy, with a lovely outdoor seating area where I enjoyed my morning coffee while listening to the birds and rustling palm leaves. The pool area is serene, great for an afternoon read or a dip after exploring nearby Galle Fort. What I appreciated most was the vibe — relaxed, not crowded, and ideal for someone like me looking to unwind, reflect, and explore at their own pace. If you’re a solo traveler wanting a mix of beach time, culture, and tranquility, Canela Resort is a beautiful and affordable escape.

Every single thing! We travelled with a 3 year old and she also loved it. From the food to the pool, the rooms and lastly the amazing, friendly staff! We have already booked to go again next year! X

Great hotel. Everything is new. Very close to a great beach, and a variety of restaurants. Not far from the town, if you need anything. We were planning to go to the other nearby beach towns, but saw no reason to leave this hotel.

We stayed at The Oasis Villa for four nights and had a very pleasant experience. The check-in and check-out processes were seamless and hassle-free, making our stay smooth from start to finish. The villa was spacious, well-maintained, and located just outside the main city, offering a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle. The housekeeping team visited daily to clean and refresh the villa, which was greatly appreciated. We particularly enjoyed spending time by the pool and in the beautiful garden. Renting a bike also made it easy and convenient to explore the surrounding area at our own pace. Overall, The Oasis Villa is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a comfortable and tranquil stay with easy access to the city.

We had such a wonderful stay at Haru Ahangama. It was easily one of our favourite places during our time in Sri Lanka. Having only opened in February, everything felt fresh, modern and thoughtfully designed. It is a gorgeous area/building. The owners were incredibly kind and attentive, always going out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The rooms were very spacious, with a lovely outdoor area that made it feel even more relaxing. The rooms were also very well equipped. It was actually the first place we stayed in Sri Lanka that had a SMART TV, which was a nice bonus. The location is peaceful and tucked away from the main road which was ideal for us enjoy the peace and quiet at night. It is only just a 5 minute walk to Kabalana Beach. It’s also right next to Terra Resort, which was perfect for us as we wanted to join a yoga class. Getting into the busier streets of Ahangama is easy with a quick tuk-tuk ride, or a short walk if you don’t mind getting your steps in :) perfect for us! Breakfast each morning was fantastic, with a huge variety of options - they provided us with a Western-style menu that really suited us. It was like an Irish/Scottish fry-up from home :) Filled us up for most of the day! One small touch we really appreciated was how quickly they provided fresh, cold milk in the evenings when we asked. Great since I am a big tea lover! Out of all the places we stayed, this was definitely the best value for money. We originally planned to stay for just one night, but loved it so much that we decided to extend which really says it all! Thank you so much for everything once again! We cannot wait to return :)

This was our last accommodation, out of all 6 - this was our favorite and the most beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The owner spoke good English and was very helpful. We had two rooms and both really beautiful. Extremely clean and with wonderful bathrooms. The most comfortable and pleasant bedding and pillows. The pool was very well maintained. The breakfast was very plentiful. I absolutely recommend it if you want a pleasant, safe, aesthetically beautiful and very clean accommodation. The location seemed very tidy and safe. Kabalana beach very close.
