Royal Glamour on the Glistening Riviera

Monte Carlo has made a world-famous name for itself in the worlds of sport and business, despite its small size. It is the largest district of the Principality of Monaco, covering a narrow strip of land at the foot of the Maritime Alps. For many, Monte Carlo is Monaco, and in reality it’s difficult to tell where one district ends and another begins.

What is clear is the wealth of its residents, which is no surprise given it’s a tax haven. Exclusive yachts line the marinas, and you’re almost as likely to see a Formula One driver leaving their house as you are to see them hurtling past during the F1 Monaco Grand Prix.

However, it’s the Monte Carlo Casino that it is the clear symbol of status. Its landscaped gardens add to a feeling of grandeur worthy of the European Poker Tour Final and the 2 James Bond films set here. Next door is the opulent Salle Garnier Opéra, built for ancestors of the present-day royal family, who reside in the Prince’s Palace by the historic Monaco-Ville district.

We stayed a week before the Monaco Grand Prix for 1½ days.

We stayed a week before the Monaco Grand Prix for 1½ days. They were finishing off setting up the circuit. We had a 4 year old. The streets are narrow and steep in places. Lots of cars and lots of junctions to navigate. We went to the Japanese Garden and Oceanographic Museum. There are play grounds dotted around the country but they seem to feature just one play item per space. My son is easily entertained and we all enjoyed it. He especially like the super cars that seem to drive aimlessly around Monaco. We chartered a Helicopter to Monaco with sight seeing tour as part of the package which was excellent. We got complimentary lift to our accommodation from the heliport. Highly recommended, we left Monaco by rail which was scenic in places. We would like to go again, maybe when a bit cooler and not with GP setup.

We took full advantage of the hotel, the environment and the services of the NOVOTEL hotel. A pleasant surprise and very good use of the service of volet service, parking in the hotel garage and carrying suitcases to the hotel room. The position of the hotel is in an excellent location, about 5 – 10 min to the CASINO. We will definitely return to this place and to the NOVOTEL hotel again.

Monte Carlo is one of those destinations you simply have to visit at least once a year. The streets, the shops, the cars and the infrastructure are just some of the reasons why we’ll be visiting Monte Carlo every year from now on.

It’s just a place you have to visit, at least once. It’s not as expensive as everyone seems to think & the restaurants serve very good quality food & drinks ( value for money). It’s a beautiful area to be & lots of places to visit. Gorgeous weather & so easy to enjoy & get around, by bus or walking. Taxis are sparse & expensive.

Monte Carlo is lovely city to visit. Metro makes easy access to places like Eze which is close by. People who want to test their luck with casino, you have one of the worlds largest Casino. Shopping is not that easy, felt super expensive. If you like brand shopping then you will fall in love with the city. Although we could not, but if you get chance do plan to attend the guard change that take place at Prince's Palace of Monaco

Wonderful clean city. Wear comfortable shoes as its hilly. Don't go if you are a jealous type as the wealth oozes, but do go to window shop and be amongst beautiful things . Amazing architecture. Pace is very relaxed. The people are very friendly. Great food.

The hotel is located in a good part of Monaco with short walks to all the sights. The staff in this place are very friendly and helpful. The room is basic but had what we needed. The shower was good, but that bathroom is a bit on the small side. The bed was comfortable.

AMAZING!!! Our room overlooked the World Famous "Hairpin" and it didn't disappoint. It's a must for all F1 fans. Amaxing, room, facilities, restaurants and of course location. If you are visiting Monaco then this should be a must stay hotel. We will be back.
