FAQs about hotels in Mexico City

Aztec Capital and Vibrant Metropolis

As one of the biggest cities in the world, Mexico City could be better described as an experience than a city. Founded in 1325 by the Aztecs as Tenochtitlan, it was both destroyed and rebuilt by the Spanish in the 16th century. Nowadays, it is the capital of the United Mexican States and its most important economic and cultural center.

The city center’s cornerstone is the famous Plaza de la Constitución, commonly called Zócalo. It's surrounded by the presidential Palacio Nacional and the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Avenida de la Reforma was built under the brief rule of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, while the deposed president Porfirio Díaz left a characteristic fusion of French-Mexican architecture. The 1960s saw a demographic explosion that only now is starting to be completely absorbed.

From the Chapultepec Parks and the chic Polanco, to the gay area of Zona Rosa and the Bohemian and intellectual Coyoacán: let Mexico City tell you its thousand secrets and stories.

Most of the hotels are located around the Reforma area, the Insurgentes Avenue and the Zócalo. If you’re looking for 5-star hotels in Mexico City, the modern Santa Fe area has a recently redeveloped business sector.

Great museums and murals. Casa Leon Trotsky is a must. Frida Kahlo museum needs to be booked in advance. Diego Rivera murals, especially at Museo Vivo del Muralismo, were great to see close up. The Sunday movetete was a lot of fun.

This city is much greener than I thought it’d be. We booked a bike tour of Condessa and Roma Norte neighborhoods, a tour of the Anthropology Museum, and a tour of Teotihuacan. They were all excellent. Uber’s are cheap and plentiful. We ate really well at a range of cuisines and prices.

I travel frequently to CDMX for work, however, I've never really taken the time to explore. This time my family travelled with me - I have been wasting and amazing opportunity! CDMX has to be one of the most interesting cities on the plant - the museums, galleries, parks, food and deep cultural history. We, literally, crammed in 16 hour days and only scratched the surface. In fact, it was more like a 'smudge' than a 'scratch'.

The mexican people are wonderful. Mexico City itself was fabulous. I would recommend a trip to the wrestling. The visit to the Azteca Stadium was on my bucket list. Everything about it was iconic, the stadium was extraordinary, the atmosphere wow, the Mexico fans and most of all the result -Thank you Mexico.

I was pleasantly surprised by Mexico City.

I was pleasantly surprised by Mexico City. It was much cleaner than I thought it would be and more walkable than expected. Dogs are beloved there which was so nice to see. No bugs or rodents anywhere that I saw which I was thankful for. What did surprise me is how little people spoke English there. Uber is the way to go, very cheap, but be careful because sometimes they drop you at the incorrect spot!! The City was more expensive than I thought it would be. Do yourself a favor and go to the 38th floor of the Ritz-Carlton hotel as the views are spectacular. Also lunch at the Anthropology Museum was delicious.

Although our stay started with some concerns due to the renovation works, the genuine care, warmth and professionalism of the team quickly turned it into an unforgettable experience. We truly felt the colors, energy and spirit of Mexico City throughout our stay. With its beautiful architecture and outstanding location, the hotel is one of the best places to experience the city. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team, and especially to Angelica, Emma and Axel, whose warmth and personal attention made us feel like family

I came in late to Mexico City and needed a quick cheap place to stay. This came up and I picked it. The reviews looked OK and to be honest, the room was clean. The hotel is what it is, not suitable for families, you can hear other rooms' business (R) if you know what I mean. The water in the shower is hot, the bed is comfortable and the late check out is great, not that I stuck around. But I wouldn't stay here again.
