The room was great. It had a very nice mountain view over the city. There was a complimentary breakfast, with fresh fruit, breakfast pastries, toast: everything I need. Nice terrace area on the 2nd floor and pool on the ground floor. Hotel is quite well maintained and in the center of the town. There's a private parking right underneath the hotel. Driving there from the hotel entrance is extremely complicated: they send someone with you. Then back to the hotel, plenty of stairs to climb.

Incredible bespoke architecture with a breathtaking view. The room was even bigger and brighter than described - we were so relaxed immediately on arriving. Easily a highlight of six weeks travelling across Mexico. The host was super attentive and has such a passion for the project, which is slowly growing. He was glad to give a tour of the beautiful property and left us the rest of our time to just relax and enjoy the peace and quietude of the place. Wish we’d stayed more than one night!

Jardín Surrealista de Edward James - due to number restrictions book in advance with hotel or buy tickets the day before. The town is far too busy, if you want peace and quiet stay closer to the gardens.

True rainforest environment, and lovely mountains...

True rainforest environment, and lovely mountains surrounding the town of Xilitla, exceeded my expectations. That town itself is run-down, without many restaurant options. So, staying outside of town near the Edward James gardens, really makes sense.

We were wondering whether we should visit Xilitla and now we...

We were wondering whether we should visit Xilitla and now we are so glad we decided to go! Had a great time, would have regretted not going. Driving there and from is another experience, with winding roads in the mountains and beautiful scenery. Xilitla is a small but very busy village, with local food and very friendly people. Not too many tourists, amazing nature. The surrealist garden is also worth visiting.

The hotel is situated so close to the jungle, it was wonderful to be woken by bird song. The staff were incredibly helpful in helping me arrange my arrival and through my stay in Xilitla. The hotel is less that a ten-minute walk from the surrealist garden, but to enter you have to purchase tickets either in advance on-line, or head into the town and buy same-day tickets from the ticket office.

This is a peaceful spot in Xilitla. Eva is very sweet and welcoming. She was always teaching us about Xilitla’s culture and promoting local communities that sell food and handicrafts. The food was delicious (definitely get the breakfast with Eva!). Jardín Huasteca Xilitla is close to the main square, yet far enough away that you don’t hear the noise.

Verde Amanecer is a true homestay. Adriana made us really welcome and is a great cook, her breakfasts are delicious. The rooms are really comfortable and there is a great roof terrace with incredible views to sit and watch the raptors circling. All this cost us half the usual hotel prices.
