Everything! Everything is perfect. The scenery omg, the bedroom is so cozy and have a nice design (I got the newly renovated room). It gave off cabin in the mountain living vibe. It feels secluded and comfortable. The staff are nice and helpful. The breakfast has a very nice varieties and taste good. I'm in love with Norway and its nature.

Such a beautiful place with fascinating mountains views. A true historical hotel with the museum in the building, old fashioned facilities. The feeling you are a traveler of the past century. Restaurant-grade breakfasts. Calm place (in the evening).

The hotel is very beautiful and overall left a good impression. A free shuttle bus from the train station brought us directly to the hotel entrance, which was very convenient. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean and comfortable, and it had nice amenities such as a kettle and a coffee machine with four capsules. The bathroom was also well equipped with shower gel and a hairdryer.

What Guests Said About Gudvangen:

There is absolutely nothing to do and nowhere to go.

There is absolutely nothing to do and nowhere to go. You can walk up the mountain or kayak. There’s nothing else. You’re forced to eat in the places owned by the hotel as there’s nothing else there. Wish we’d stayed an hour and moved on

Gudvangen is just a few buildings at the ferry harbor.

Gudvangen is just a few buildings at the ferry harbor. There's a restaurant and a bakery and a gift shop. You can walk around the area on a few trails and there's a Viking village that we didn't visit. The fish restaurant is pretty good.

I could have stayed one more night to go kayaking or hiking.

I could have stayed one more night to go kayaking or hiking. The fjord cruise sounded nice but was expensive. The Viking Village was interesting. Since we visited just outside the season it seemed like it wasn’t as active. We ate at the hotel for Norwegian food. They had a cafeteria style for lunch and then a dinner menu. There was also a cafe that had pizza and a convenience store. Also another cafe by the Viking Village. Very small town everything was a 5/10 minute walk from hotel. Wonderful seating area outside hotel with view of the fjord. Fire pit was on the evening we stayed. We sat and enjoyed a cider and the view.

We had booked the Norway in a Nutshell route from Oslo to Bergen and our friends had recommended we break up the journey and stay the night in Gudvangen and I am so glad we did! It was the most beautiful town right in the heart of a fjord - the views were breathtaking and as not many people stayed the night like we did, we felt like we had the place to ourselves. We didn't stay long enough to participate in any of the activities offered the next morning (kayaking, hiking or a visit to the viking museum) but I don't think you need to stay any longer than two nights. I highly recommend that you stay at least one night in Gudvangen if you are travelling through it

My husband I ended up in Gudvangen because we could not find a hotel room in Flåm. It turned out that we were really lucky - Gudvangen is really beautiful, and less touristy than Flåm. Our budget hotel was much better than I expected, the local seafood restaurant was great, and the Viking village was a very interesting place to visit.

I flew into Bergen and took the double decker Bus (2.5 Hrs scenic journey) to Gudvangen via Voss. The Bergen to Oslo Train via Myrdal and Flam is an alternative means of travel. A peaceful, quiet area at the head of the Nærøyfjord. Less commercial than the nearby Flam but is only 25mins by regular shuttle bus. The only slight downside for me as an ardent cyclist; was that as I was there in April; the Bike hire company was closed until May!

It is a wonderful place on the fjord with views you will never forget. The house is big enough and has everything you need. The host is accommodating and lives nearby, so you can always ask for help. There is a motor boat available at a highly fair price. Very quiet place with scenic views and one of the greatest hikes within walking distance. You can also use sauna and BBQ. The parking is free right near the house.

This was a great campsite. We hired one of the log cabins. They were brilliant. The site was very clean and tidy and all the facilities were perfect. All the staff were extremely friendly. The site is located a short walk from Gudvangen and the bus stop is directly outside the campsite. I would highly recommend this property

The location of the hotel is perfect for a boat trip in the fjords. Next to the hotel is the port and starts the fjord. The public transportation (shuttlebus) between Gudvangen and Flam is very well organized. The breakfast was excellent as the quality as the range of foods. The room as it as on the photoes.

No breakfast at the hotel, but a short walk to the reception/cafe/bakery. Coffee in the room. Although not fitted out like major chain hotels (and similar), I the basic room was comfortable with great views.
