United StatesWhat a treat to stay in this renovated windmill. A truly unique experience on a ridge top in a line of about 20 windmills in various states of repair and ruin. It was warm inside and comfortable and fresh bread and breakfast was delivered in the morning. The area was well lit at night. We really enjoyed our night here. Waking up on top of the ridge was a treat. Would stay again

Hong KongThe house is lovely and well equipped with everything you need for a long or short stay. Paula is an amazing hostess. After every weekly cleaning, we found a new box of convent pastries or cookies on the table. We especially enjoyed the large outdoor area, the beautiful sunsets and the friendly neighborhood of the village. The area of Penacova is scenic and great for hiking or other outdoor activities, and the house is only about 20 minutes by car from the cultural hub of Coimbra.

The whole experience was much better thanks to the hospitality of the manager (José) and the owner (Joāo)
They took care of things and kept asking questions to customise my experience at the place. so with a lovely accommodation with breathtaking 180 degree view and such cozy, beautiful city I exceeded my expectations about Penacova.
You could be at Swiss alps, such high hills and astonishing valleys finishing at Montego River. I will come back again and staying at the same accomodation !

A sleepy little town that is all but closed up on Sundays.
A sleepy little town that is all but closed up on Sundays. There is a grocery store in the town of Penacova and thankfully it is open on Sundays. Strongly recommend that you bring a car if you plan to wander around.

The views from the hilltop where the town centre is situated...
The views from the hilltop where the town centre is situated are fabulous. There isn’t a lot to do in the town but there are some good facilities eg Cota restaurant and Cafe Turismo. In the warmer weather the river beach is an asset.
If you are looking for a quiet place off the beaten track Penacova is for you.

This place was incredible! Penacova is THE most amazing little village, and the guesthouse we stayed in was incredible. Eduardo and his brother made us feel SO welcome, and we even had a huge functions kitchen to ourselves to cook our yummy dinner! They were so lovely and authentic! Please don't be put off by their struggle with wi-fi - just appreciate the surroundings - a true, authentic European village!

The property boasts amazing views. We truly enjoyed the scenery of Penacova, a beautiful, quiet, and green little town that offered a peaceful escape. We also appreciated that the accommodation was overall clean and tidy, and it was clear that attention to detail was given, as we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
