The view was amazing. Location was excellent. Right across the street from Car Rental. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Walking distance to many good restaurants and natural pool. 10 out of 10 for the staff…when we checked out at 6 am, it was raining so hard, the guy on duty at the front desk drove us to the ferry….(we had planned to walk to the ferry, and had not booked a taxi, so instead of letting us walk in the rain, we were grateful for the offer to drive us…he went above and beyond!!)

I can’t describe how much we loved staying at this property! The host were attentive and constantly following up to make sure we were happy and comfortable. The kitchen was superbly outfitted. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom and shower were awesome. Everything was clean the best part however was the patio. It was huge and clean and had the most amazing view!

This is a cute small bed and breakfast. Our room was clean with excellent air conditioner. It’s located in the small town area by the ocean. The ferry is very close and in walking distance. We took it to Pico to spend the day. The breakfast is nice with various breads and local cheeses which I love. There is also fresh fruit… coffee and tea. The tourist office is nearby and they offered various tour guides. The cute parks nearby have WiFi as well as the hotel. There is a natural swimming pool very close by as well. I think this is an excellent choice hotel for this island.

Julia and Emanuel were amazing! Super flexible with check-in and check-out, and also available to pick me up at the ferry or airport! The accomodation was super clean, and you can have meals looking at Pico Mountain. There's also a kitchen and a big fridge, and also a living room :) My stay was perfect. I will come back still this year again!

Velas was a nice quite town. There is lots to see and do.

Velas was a nice quite town. There is lots to see and do. Great hotels and friendly staff. There is a "pool" downtown at the seawall within the ocean due to rocks that have been placed, so you can swim. They have a stage where artists and singers can perform. Lots of cute shops with great merchansie to purchase, with easy streets to walk through. Lots of cobbled stones, so wear comfortable shoes. Great restaurants down cute little streets and lots of friendly people who want to help you regardless if you can speak portuguese or not.

The apartment was really modern compared to most places in...

The apartment was really modern compared to most places in the Azores. Great view with a large covered patio with a bbq which included charcoal and wood. There is a washer located on the covered patio. The rooms were spacious and all had AC. One of the rooms also had a loft with an additional sleeping area in addition to the main bed. Great location which was in walking distance to most of Velas and nearby by Boss Burger and a Chinese Restaurant.

I had intended to scout the rest of the island more, but a frustrating trip from home left me less than enegetic = still, I had never been to Velas before and there was plenty to see for a couple of days withoit leaving town. HInt: visit the Land and Sea museum.

Amazing place. Completely stocked small supermarket. Chinese store had an amazing selection of clothes, electronics, etc. Restaurants were wonderful. Everyone we meet was helpful and friendly. Go to the lagoon on the otherside of the island - heavenly. Better hydranga lined roads and fields than Sao Miguel. Call Ramos for taxi service - he is my cousin.

Piscina Natural Simao Dias, the most beautiful natural pool in the Azores. I would recommend it to others. I traveled around the island on a rented scooter. But I thought it was safer to use a car.

Velas is a lovely little town on Sao Jorge.

Velas is a lovely little town on Sao Jorge. It isn't large but has everything you need for a week on tge island. There are several natural swimming pools with free umbrellas and shower/changing facilities (the fact they're free unlike so many places is really good). The restaurants we ate in were really good serving local produce with good value for money. The rest of the island has the spectacular scenery and Velas is a good place to base yourself to see it.

Larger hotel in a peaceful location up the hill, right by the sea. Within walking distance of most places in Velas. I was unlucky with the weather during my short stay, so I couldn’t fully enjoy the view from the small balcony attached to the room or the nice pool area. Spacious bathroom with a lovely bathtub. Friendly, helpful staff and a good breakfast included.

Everything was perfect, a beautiful house, with a view to Pico mountain, decorated with ceramics that Antonio makes in his workshop and flowers. Really enjoyed our stay there, would recommend it to anyone coming to Velas.

First of all, there was an excellent local host. All communication was very easy. The family-run house was spacious with great outdoor space and view over Velas towards Pico. It could not have been better.

Well located in the centre of Velas. Very kind and welcoming staff. Even helped with my luggage! Let me use the room early, which was a great relief since I was a feeling bit seasick!
