It was definitely a five star experience from the welcome desk and personal orientation to our room to the tranquil spa and everything in between. The staff really made us feel comfortable. The location was easy walking distance to Porto and waterfront shopping and restaurants. And the view from our room was spectacular overlooking the river. We would love to stay again!

We love Tivoli Hotels and were so happy to stay at the Kopke! Exceptional service, caring staff, beautiful accommodations and great location. We had the best view from our room. Close to the Port houses, downtown restaurants and a lovely walk to Porto ( also take a cable car for the views). But honesty- the best of everything was right at this hotel. Do not miss the spa!!! The views and treatments both! Breakfast, dinner, the bar and the staff, room service … All lovely! We also enjoyed are delicious welcome port, kind note and traditional pastel de nata Special shout out to Pia and Francisca for getting medical help and running to the pharmacy when my husband injured his back. We felt very cared for and were in good hands. Book your stay here! You won’t be sorry!

The staff and owners were very accommodating. The view of the river and city is beautiful from every room. Exquisite furnishings and decor, spotlessly clean. Enjoyed the sauna and the beautiful gardens. Uber fares were very low for a short trip into the city center.

Wonderful and timeless place to stay. Its a quick walk down the street to the train station where you can pop right into downtown Porto. Staff was incredible, and were able to adjust when we were later than expected. Pool was great. The shared kitchen was a nice bonus.

Beautifully maintained facility with the best blen of old and new architechture I have seen. Peacfully quite whilst in the middle of old Porto. Breakfast was somethin special and the food of thw highest quality served in splendid surroundings. The honesty bar was again very special and reaistically priced, encouraging guests to enjoy the most excellent Potuguese offerings.

A beautiful property for a holiday stay. There are plenty of scenic walking routes, beautiful beaches, and stunning coastal views along the shoreline. The area offers many restaurants and bars, making it a great place to relax in the evenings. The staff were friendly, and the prices were reasonable.

It is a pleasant half hour walk along the river to the nearest restaurants, set within a beautiful old part of town. Hiring a car is a must. We drove about 1½ hour a to the Paiva walkway, which was well worth the effort. The wooden walkway and steps are very well maintained and take you through a beautiful canyon, leading to one of the longest suspension bridges in the world ( we didn't do the bridge - its not for the faint-hearted). There is a super cafe before you set off, where the food was good, the prices were cheap and the staff were amazing. We also did a 7 hour minibus/river cruise and wine-tasting tour booked through 'Get Your Guide' and this was excellent value for money. The Jardins do Palácio de Cristal, which you can see opposite the apartment, across the river is definitely worth a visit. There is a great cafe in the park. One of the best meals we had was at Grazie Mille on the Porto side of the river.

Although we walked around Porto side of the river several times we definitely would recommend staying in Gaia. It has a great vibe and the bonus of looking across the river to the sights of Porto. Plus the Gaia waterfront has all the port houses!

We were spending time with family who live locally but we went to the Livraria & Lello Book Shop. It is a beautiful shop with helpful staff, but it could have been a more pleasant experience. There were too many people and it was very cramped which, added to the extreme heat, meant that we did not feel that we could take the time to really enjoy the experience. A lovely afternoon was spent in a tile studio where we learned the history of the local wall tiles; how they came to be used on the outside walls of houses, how they were made and how this became industrialised. We were then given the opportunity to re-create existing patterns using stencils or paint freehand on to two tiles each. A very informative and relaxing afternoon with a super instructor.

I really enjoyed the rooms very clean surroundings and safety. I went just because of the poirt lodges. which were worth the time and effort to get there. Gaia was quite commercial in old world wiisitingth the great history of Port. I have been drinking and selling Port for 50 years and really enjoyed the long history of the entire region. That was a nice end to my last great wine region of the world.

We had a fantastic stay at The House of Sandeman. The location is excellent, just next to the Douro River with a spectacular view of the opposite river side and the Ponte Luís I Bridge. Our room was immaculately clean and very comfortable. Room and suite decors are amazing. Furthermore, the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely choose this accommodation again when staying in Porto, respectively, Vila Nova de Gaia.

Location is extremely conveniente. Even though you're not in Porto, getting there and back couldn't be easier. The metro is at the door. Across the square of the hotel there's a department store with everything you might need. It's extremely convenient.
