NetherlandsIncredibly kind host with lots of recommendations for this area! Went to Travertine Hotsprings in the morning which was an amazing experience. The room was clean, bed was comfy and the complimentary snacks were great. Bridgeport is really what I picture in my mind when I think of an American town, in the best way possible. If you're looking for cute gifts and souvenirs from the area, go to Sweetwater Outback. I'll definitely stay here again when I'm in the area, highly recommend this place!!

What a perfect town to stay in when you want to get away...
What a perfect town to stay in when you want to get away from it all. The only place to stay when you are visiting Bodie History Park. It was raining when we visited, but walking around in the light drizzle was very peaceful.
I know everyone says that small towns are friendly, but this was a friendly town!

Bridgeport has a small town feel to it.
Bridgeport has a small town feel to it. Everyone there is super-friendly. It's conveniently located near lakes and streams for fishing, is a reasonable driving distance from Mammoth Mountain and Mammoth Lakes for sports enthusiasts, and is about 30 minutes or less from some interesting historical sites. Bridgeport is also slow-paced and low-key if you just need some down time to relax and recharge.

Bridgeport happened to be the most convenient city to split...
Bridgeport happened to be the most convenient city to split up a 1500 mile drive into 3 night stays. It was our first night on the road so we needed to stop an rest as soon as possible so we could be ready to continue the drive in the morning of the second day.

Bridgeport is special to me.
Bridgeport is special to me. It is a little town surrounded by spectacular mountains, river and a lake. There is Walker river for fishing in summer and all the mountains for backcountry skiing and hiking. Bridgeport itself has very limited restaurants and bars.

We travelled out of Yosemite towards Lee Vining and...
We travelled out of Yosemite towards Lee Vining and travelling that little bit further north. That extra bit of driving was well worth the landscape and facilities of Bridgeport. Although small, had excellent facilities, restaurants, bars, shop and historical info. Felt totally safe there and it was only a fairly short drive back down to Mono Lake. Do stop at the viewing point on the way down for pictures and Bodie is definitely worth a stop if interested in the history of mine towns. It was better than others we have been to, like Calico near Barstow. Will need to engage the 4 wheel drive to negotiate the road though!

We give Virginia settlement a five star rating it was clean, An amazing, beautiful location and had all the amenities you could ask for! Perfect location to explore around Yosemite Bridgeport, mono, and all the other surrounding areas. We stayed in the handmaiden cabin and it was perfect for our family!!! The kitchen and the restaurant was really good as well. My daughters favorite part was the rainbow trout that you feed that they raise on the property. It was a pretty cool experience. Thank you so much. We will be back soon.

Because it was cheaper than other places I’d stayed in town, I was a little leery. I’d also heard the parking was “tight” and it was. I worried about dents, to be honest, although I didn’t experience any. Inside was comfortable and fairly clean, although the grime around the door handles and locks on the inside was off putting. That should have been an easy fix with a few swipes of a sponge. Overall, my stay was neutral. The TV and wifi were reliable. I appreciated the quaintness of the motel’s exterior.

We booked a covered wagon which was really cool and comfy. It was
a warm night but there were plenty of blankets if not. Electricpoint for charging and sitting outside with the fire pit listening to the creek was awesome. The whole site is small but cool, next to a road but still really quiet. We had a great dinner in the restaurant . There are fish to feed and outdoor games to play. Would definitely stay here again.

Great hotel in a really good location. A bar, restaurant, bakery and shop right around the corner. The hosts are great by making your stay enjoyable and comfortable. I wish I had an extra day! It’s almost a shame there is so much to do around here as you are just staying at the hotel for a short time.
