My hosts are true alaskans who understand the ferry might not always be available and they accommodated me. They are lovely and gracious and the cabin was perfect. I have stayed there twice and been very happy with everything.

Terrific little town with friendly residents, great eateries and plenty of things to do. We enjoyed the wildlife watching and did a photo tour. The scenery is spectacular. Would recommend the Lighthouse Restaurant and the Rusty Compass. The Mountain Market is also great for coffee, breakfast sandwiches and groceries. The Sheldon Museum is also a highlight.

Nice little town.

Nice little town. Beautiful drives up to chillkoot lake and then also to the chilkat eagle preserve. Enjoyed our boat trip to Juneau with Alaska fjiordlines. It was a smaller boat carrying about 40 people. The captain was excellent, giving historical and geographical information along the way. We stopped for whale, porpoise and seal sightings. Had about 3 hours in Juneau to wander around.

Great location, great view of the sea way, great rooms, very comfortable beds, with a cabin like feeling decore, interesting stores, restaurants, quite area, a bit hilly in areas, great marina, lots of boats to look at, even a cruise ship from time to time. Stay 2-3 days if schedule lets you, book the ferry from Haines up to Skagway, stop off there, walk around, seek treats and souvenirs, then drive back to Whitehorse thru Carcross. Great trip ..nice scenery along the way. If you drive there book the ferry side thru the Alaska marine highway ferry web site, saves time, and once at the terminal out side of Haines, go into the building with you info sheet booking to get paper work for the car tags, and your own tickets to get on the ferry, ect..parking on the ferry is an interesting adventure, but the crew know how to do it and are very helpful. You may run into some rain in Haines and Skagway, buts it’s only water…

Haines is a great place to visit in summer.

Haines is a great place to visit in summer. We have been there many times to fish and scuba dive, as well as to just camp and enjoy the beautiful coastal wilderness. Two great wilderness campgrounds close to Haines, and two urban campgrounds right in town. Unique places to eat during the summer. Good fishing charters available. Connection to excursions to Juneau via fast ferry service. Lots of bears and eagles to see during salmon runs.
