I grew up in Hazard so this isn't some out of town snob...
I grew up in Hazard so this isn't some out of town snob cracking on a small mountain town. I went off the EKU and never returned right out of high school. Went back this past week for a funeral. I was wondering if the place had changed or not. Oh my, yes it had!! Businesses closed, roads in disrepair, houses falling apart and an overwhelming air of broken down despair. I didn't think it possible but the place is an even worse pit of rot and decay than when I left 40 years ago. Imagine Detroit meets Appalachia with a healthy dose of narcotics trade and you get a good idea of what my impression of the place is like today. Granted it was never Mayberry but at least we could roam the woods hunting squirrel and rabbit, without being abducted. We could coast our bikes down from LaCitidale screaming all the way in excitement, not fear of being mugged or shot. I do not think I shall go back again!

The shower in our room was broken we didn't know till we got up the next morning expecting a hot shower and the faucet was broken...we checked out and I told the girl it was broken and all she said was Really! It was like we didn't matter..won't visit here ever again

The staff is super helpful and nice. My room was very clean and they made a point of giving me a spot away from noise and activity when I told them I had virtual meetings to attend online. WiFi was reliable.

The check-in was fast & friendly. The breakfast was very good. It has variety and higher quality than a lot of other free breakfasts in hotels. Check-outcwas also fast & friendly.

Nothing. There was mold and water damage. The manager said she would give a full refund if Booking.com contacted her.

We requested a new remodeled room and were given a very old and run down room. Maybe because we booked online.
