The apartment was clean, bright, and comfortable with a lovely view over the bay. Although we didn’t cook very often, the kitchen was well-equipped. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good. We happened to bump into our host, too, who was lovely. For us, however, the location was a real selling point. We loved that we could walk into town to explore and eat at the various restaurants. We loved, too, that there were so many beautiful places to hike and visit in easy driving distance, including Campobello, which was a highlight.

already 4am when we arrived. self-check-in is easy. After catching the first sunlight on the 250th day, have a 4-hour good sleep without interruption. The owner messaged details local guidance before our arrival, making our driving easy. Our short stay is good meeting our expectations.

We had delicious fresh seafood at The Inn on the Warf after spending the afternoon on Campabello Island at the Roosevelt cottage and International Park. The following morning we watched the first sunrise in the USA at the Quoddy Head lighthouse.

The area is beautiful and there is quite a bit to do. Roosevelt Campobello park is right across the bridge and I was the only car in line to go through customs so it was easy to reach. The lighthouse are beautiful. East Quoddy Head is located on Campobello Island and you are able to go out to it at low tide. The whale watching an whirlpool boat tour was really great and it was very nice to be out on the water.

We went to Lubec because it is the eastern most town in the US. We visited the West Quoddy Lighthouse. The walking trails were well maintained and I enjoyed the stairs to the rock beach. They have plenty of parking and picnic tables available. The views of the ocean were breathtaking.

Lubec and Eastport are very quintessential Maine towns.

Lubec and Eastport are very quintessential Maine towns. We recommend going to both of them and also over to Campobello. Chase down the lighthouses while you are at it...you can see the easternmost point of the US at one of them.
