The room was gorgeous and very spacious. We loved the fact that there was basically a small kitchen to reheat food and such if we had wanted to do so. Add that to the proximity to downtown and the great restaurants and we will be booking again! We even think we got a free upgrade.

It’s newly renovated with modern as well as retro style. The pool area was especially impressive between the various chairs, umbrellas and cabanas. They had lounge chairs and couches that seemed more like beds. Plenty of tables and chairs, games and two fire pits.

We’ve been coming to the Anchorage by the Sea for at least 30 years and each time we visit it more than exceeds our expectations (larger and more high end every stay.). We flew up from FL to enjoy the luxury, food and sights. Can’t wait to come back.

The people of Old orchard beach are lovely and helpful.
Old Orchard Beach

The people of Old orchard beach are lovely and helpful. There are an abundance of restaurants, dominated by fried foods and hand helds along the boardwalk, but there are a few sit downs Great for kids, not too expensive, If you have a car, it is worth it to take a ride up to Portland and take a tour, there are a number along the waterfront. But truly the appeal of Old orchard Beach is it is a place to relax, swim, build a sandcastle and not have to get dressed up ever.

Bar Harbor

If you stay downtown in Bar Harbor, no car is needed. Beautiful scenery and the waterfront is breathtaking. Shops, restaurants, museums and walking paths are within walking distance. Enjoyed our narrated 2.5 hour tour to Acadia National Park via Acadiatours.com. Rick, our tour driver, was fantastic. So many things to visit and do at Acadia National Park - visit more than once. Geddy's Restaurant is a must located on Main Street as well as the Irish Pub on Main Street. Don't forget to order a lobster meal and oysters - delicious!!

Portland

The Old Port area of Portland is where all the action was at for us. Lots of great seafood, live music, and shopping. It is a bicycle friendly city. Not very friendly for those who have challenges with walking however. It is located close to other attractions as well. Lots to take in and do.

Ogunquit

We love Ogunquit and have been visiting for the past 15 years. Our favorite restaurant is Brix & Brine and saw a show at the Playhouse. We typically go to the Dueling Divas show and the piano bar. We also enjoy walking the Marginal Way and visiting Perkins Cove. We miss the Christmas store.

Bangor

Bangor was interesting and had some nice historic places. Shopping and coffee in the old section was nice. The traffic was slow and a bit tedious in the morning. We drove through on our way out of town and didn't have time for shopping and getting more familiar with Bangor.

Wells

I was visiting a friend in Kennebunkport. The travel was a little distance so going back and forth took some time. Liked the area because there were things to do. I'm a big breakfast person. Not enough breakfast places around to accommodate all the people visiting the area. Even being alone, it was a wait each morning. Would like to see all the breakfast places open all day (not till just 2:00 or 3:00 p.m.). Traveling alone, I'd prefer these type of places rather than high end dining in the evening.

Camden

One of the most beautiful places I've ever visited in the US. So many good places to eat, have coffee and eat locally made ice cream, Also, take a sailboat cruise on one of the many antique schooners. I loved the OLAD. The harbor is so beautiful, and oh so many shops to take your money! It's worth it though. happy hour at the Harbor Side Hotel bar lobby is the best. We stayed for dinner and was so pleased.

York Beach

A bit of a tourist trap, stick to the beach or pool and don’t waste your money on the “attractions” or the arcade. Save your money for dining and shopping if that’s your thing. The dining options are limited and a good meal won’t be found at the dairy bars or even the one pizza place. I recommend The Goldenrod for breakfast and the Sand Dollar Bar and Grille for drinks/apps/dinner. There are a lot of cute souvenir and gift shops, The Whispering Sands is my favorite.
