Ogunquit

One of 987 reviews:
"We would absolutely recommend an Ogunquit visit if you're in the area. There is so much to do and see. The Art Museum & Ogunquit Playhouse are both incredible. So many restaurants and shops to enjoy. Take a relaxing walk along the beach, any season. Also, don't forget to walk along Marginal Way for the views of the ocean and then end up in Perkins Cove for a chance to relax in a restaurant or shop for some more treasures to take home. Enjoy!"

"We love staying at the park at your door motels that are privately owned. We would much rather give our money to them than a chain, especially in these times. We were very pleased with Saco Motel and would not hesitate recommending it or staying there again. Room was sparkling clean, beds comfortable. It was an older motel updated appropriately. Loved it."

"Close to beach. Room was much better than expected. The outside of the building presented very poorly. We we very apprehensive as to what type of property we had reserved as the outside was in poor condition. But we felt much better when we saw the room. No elevator so not recommended if you have a hard time with stairs. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful."

If you are thinking of coming to Maine I can not recommend this area more, you could spend a day like we did just walking around town visiting all the shops and eating lunch. There are so many choices. My favorite store was The Compliments Art Gallery."

"York Beach is a great place to stay! In addition to Long Sands, where our motel was located, there are lots of convienent, affordable restauants. In addition, there are many attractions nearby, most reachable by walking. We stayed at the Cutty Sark motel, located right on Long Sands Beach. My wife and me were both extremely pleased with this motel. The motel is literally steps away from the ocean, which afforded fantastic views. The room was impeccably clean, the staff warm and friendly, and the price for our two night stay quite reasonable. In addition, we were literally steps away from the beach, local area restaurants and attractions. We highly recommend staying at this establishments. Frank and Donna Sanfilippo"

Brand new hotel. Great layout. A small living room in the front that includes a sink with garbage disposal, medium sized refrigerator/freezer, microwave, two glass cooktop burners, pots and pans, work area, couch, coffee table, and TV. The bedroom is a separate room. Comfortable bed. Another large TV. I could settle in comfortably here for a long stay. Very friendly staff. A restaurant conveniently located across the parking lot.

I had such a wonderful stay at the Beau Rivage Motel! The staff was friendly, helpful, and kind throughout my visit. It’s always the little things that make a difference. The location is fantastic. Convenient to everything and perfect for exploring the area. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would absolutely come back again. The room was gorgeous and very spacious. We loved the fact that there was basically a small kitchen to reheat food and such if we had wanted to do so. Add that to the proximity to downtown and the great restaurants and we will be booking again! We even think we got a free upgrade.

It’s newly renovated with modern as well as retro style. The pool area was especially impressive between the various chairs, umbrellas and cabanas. They had lounge chairs and couches that seemed more like beds. Plenty of tables and chairs, games and two fire pits.

OOB is overpriced for what you get.

OOB is overpriced for what you get. Don't expect a modern, large spacious unit or beach front for that matter. The town is cute and everything is a short walk. I have fond memories as a teenager coming here. The food is overpriced in the downtown area unless you want to eat pizza, in fact, all of the food is overpriced compared to what we pay in Canada. Get to the beach early if you want a nice spot, it fills up quickly and by 1 PM it is crowded. The beach is beautiful and appears to go on forever, the water is nice, although cold, on a hot day though it is very refreshing. I prefer swimming at high tide, less seaweed and the sand is nicer. If you need to park, consider driving further down 1st avenue such as Cap'n Mikes Parking, as it will generally be cheaper than parking closer to the Pier. The restaurant (again overpriced) at the end of the Pier is nice because you can sit outside at the end of the Pier overlooking the Ocean.

I was visiting a friend in Kennebunkport.

I was visiting a friend in Kennebunkport. The travel was a little distance so going back and forth took some time. Liked the area because there were things to do. I'm a big breakfast person. Not enough breakfast places around to accommodate all the people visiting the area. Even being alone, it was a wait each morning. Would like to see all the breakfast places open all day (not till just 2:00 or 3:00 p.m.). Traveling alone, I'd prefer these type of places rather than high end dining in the evening.

I had come to Maine as a child due to extended family living there and had been to quiet Kennebunkport. However, it's no longer quiet, it is filled with tourists, but it really is a nice, historic location that has the right feel of "Downeast Maine."

A bit of a tourist trap, stick to the beach or pool and don’t waste your money on the “attractions” or the arcade. Save your money for dining and shopping if that’s your thing. The dining options are limited and a good meal won’t be found at the dairy bars or even the one pizza place. I recommend The Goldenrod for breakfast and the Sand Dollar Bar and Grille for drinks/apps/dinner. There are a lot of cute souvenir and gift shops, The Whispering Sands is my favorite.

Real old fashioned New England.

Real old fashioned New England. Friendly people and quaint surroundings. Beautiful expansive beaches and close to Kennebunkport resort. However, the prices were high. This is no bargain resort. Eating out the first night convinced us to pick up picknick things to eat in our hotel room or in parks and at the beach. Restaurants were too over priced and cocktails and drinks beyond our pocketbook for every day!
