I love the atmosphere of the city.

I love the atmosphere of the city. I am usually not into touristy places but this one is different. There is so much to see and do. I especially like sitting and watching the bridge with the sunsets. Absolutely gorgeous every time. A trip to the island never disappoints as well.

There is a lot to see in Mackinaw City.

There is a lot to see in Mackinaw City. It’s like Gaitlinburg, TN if you like tourist traps, lol. With loads of variety shops, good food and oh, the sweets! Look for coupons at your local information center or front desk at the hotel for restaurants, attractions, local variety shops, etc. Shuttles are available, too. Check out the Mackinaw Bridge Memorial Museum on the UP side of the bridge, excellent project of honor. ❤️🇺🇸 But, the views from the beach and from Mackinac Island are stunning!! We had a very informative horse carriage ride driver, Ryan on the history of the island was our favorite part! We definitely would visit Mackinaw again!!

We went to Mackinaw City mostly to visit Mackinac Island, based on recommendations from a friend. Weather was perfect the day we were there, and we enjoyed a carriage tour, the butterfly house, and walking around the town watching people biking and horses pulling carriages. Plenty of restaurants to choose from. Lilacs were in bloom and were everywhere! Beautiful houses to look at. Mackinaw City also has a fun vibe, with restaurants and shopping and a walkable downtown.

Mackinaw City has declined over the last few years.

Mackinaw City has declined over the last few years. The prices in the entire area for souvenirs and food are way too high. Fudge prices are outrageous. Who wants to pay $30 for a lb of subpar fidge? The ferry prices have almost doubled to get to the island. I can see why the number of tourists visiting Mackinaw City has declined so much.

The bridge is fun to see. The bugs are terrible!!

The bridge is fun to see. The bugs are terrible!! Mackinaw city has really gone down hill. There aren't many options as far as places to eat. The whole city seems to be owned by one person so everything in the stores is the same. One particular place (we visited and used our debit card) caused big problems. The bank locked our card and informed us we needed to obtain a new one. $500 was taken. We did end up getting it back but it's something to think about if you visit. If I ever go back every thing will be cash only.
