This was just a stopover for our trip back from our winter home. It was the first time we stayed in Moriarty and found this hotel to be excellent. Clean and fresh. Great staff. The usual breakfast. 24-hour coffee and tea always makes us happy. The pool, though we didn't use it, looked clean and inviting! We will definitely make this our usual stop on our annual trip home from Arizona. Due to our experiences with Best Westerns on this trip we will start seeking them out over the chain we usually patronize.

Moriarty is a dead, ugly, smelly little town.

Moriarty is a dead, ugly, smelly little town. I used to live in this area, so I'm pretty familiar. Years ago, it was a relic of old 66, and that's kinda neat- but now the town is dirty and depressing. This nasty little dump, like a bit of west TX that blew over the state line, is now littered and most of the places have been bought up by foreigners. If you enjoy a nice mix of white trash and the smell of curry, hurry to Moriarty!

Not much for me to say, I was driving Route 66 and only stayed here for the night, but it was a pleasant area, everyone was friendly, felt safe at night. But, went to bed early and left in the morning, so I did not really take in any of the nightlife. Places were open at the time for food and other supplies, not sure when everything shuts down there. Overall, a great stop on Route 66.

This motel was in need of repairs and was dangerously dirty.

This motel was in need of repairs and was dangerously dirty. The sink appeared to have black mold growing around it. The staff seemed not to be surprised when the possibility of black mold was reported to them. I would not stay in this motel again.

Staff was very friendly, room was clean.

Staff was very friendly, room was clean. The Ac comes on but doesn't cool. It makes a noise every few minutes like an ice maker. The light/fan in the bathroom was loud and the door sticks, so it makes a loud sound when it is opened. The beds are hard. The light flashed when turned on. TV does not work.

We found a very good Mexican restaurant, La Hacienda, and enjoyed our meal immensely. We were only passing through so didn't catch any of the town's activities. It seemed quiet, and the Sunset Motel was a fun, clean, retro, unassuming place to stay.

Like stepping back into the late 60s or early 70s, except the heat pump was quiet and nothing looked like it was an antique. The room was cute, the beds comfy. The owner was beyond welcoming and seemed to enjoy meeting people. While Bkfst was brown bagged there was coffee in the room, and the brown bag contained special pastries and fruit, which we made good use of. It was better than what we are used to getting at large chain hotels.

It was amazing. The staff were so kind and friendly. The home baked breakfast treats were outstanding. The historical charm of the unit (and the hotel overall!!) was wonderful. It is very well kept up, super clean, safe and brings back nostalgic memories for anyone staying there. Great 'diamond in the rough' and a real unexpected pleasure.

Quiet, clean and convenient hotel near I-40. Town is small, safe, and easy to get in/out. Nice beds, quiet rooms, etc. Staff nice, Breakfast unusually good, and well attended. Food was great, and well stocked. Got some help with the Belgian waffle maker, which was also great.

Breakfast was good, hotel involved in interesting movie making history but information about plenty of movies filmed in nearby places should be visible during booking.
