I booked a "King Suite with Whirlpool" which in the past has always meant a jacuzzi tub in the room. I booked this deliberately (not a luxury whim) - my husband and I drive long days on road trips and the heavily chlorinated pool/hot tub for public use burns my skin. So we choose a room with a jacuzzi tub to relax sore muscles. I paid $149 before taxes for the room, which I felt was fair value for a jacuzzi tub and a little pricey for the town of Rawlins, WY. We arrived, the bill was handed to me and the word "jacuzzi" was scratched out in red. I asked the check-in person about that and she said that there haven't been any jacuzzi tubs "since the remodel" and that some of the booking sites haven't been updated yet. There were no signs of construction around, so I can't imagine how long the remodel has been complete, how no one has seen fit to make sure the booking engines are selling correct inventory, and how the property can find it acceptable to simply have a guest show up having paid for one class of room and receiving something less. I was actually too tired and too angry to ask for the MOD (knowing there wasn't a tub onsite to be had anyway). We got into the room and the number of things wrong with it are too numerous to list here. My husband is a contractor and his best guess is that the remodel wasn't properly inspected after it was finished. The most egregious mistake is that the bedside lamp on one side of the bed didn't actually turn off all the way - there was no dimmer switch (only "on" and "off") but the light dimmed down to something like a child's night light. No point in blackout curtains if you can't actually turn the lights off! Holiday Inn Express used to be our go-to place to stay in any city nationwide because of the consistency, but now I will choose another chain, or at least call ahead to make sure what I'm buying is what I'm getting.

Good room for Historic travelers. I love the 'old town' feel. It exceeded my expectations for the cost of the room. The staff was super friendly and the room was very clean. Very quiet area. The bed was a little uncomfortable as it was a spring mattress but for what I paid- it was perfect

Had a quick stay here. Tried a steakhouse in Rawlins but it was not very good and was overpriced and the bar was out of basic items. There was one wine selection to choose from. The city is nice & we probably should ask the locals for food advice next time we travel through.

Rawlins was a great place to visit. There were many things to do while we were there. Also plenty of places to eat and stay at. The best place we ate at was Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse. What a really awesome place to eat at. The food the staff it was all great. I highly recommend it.

On a hot day, there was a much cooler place to park a car in the shade at the ACT site. It is very easy to drive around and to get gas in Rawlins. People were using Rawlins for outdoor recreation, using bikes and backpacks.

If your comfortable enough with extremely ice cold winds that rip through regularly and winter driving conditions and your not big on crowded towns with all those shopping malls than it's a good place to go. Especially for hunters,there's a lot of game out there and those of you who like photographing colorful sunrises and sunsets,Rawlins has a huge sky that often has so many vibrant colors you can't tell if your looking at the morning sky or setting sun. Great panoramic views!😁 Don't speed here though,they are very serious about that 30 mph😅
