Wyoming

Wyoming is best known for its dramatic national parks, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton, and for wide open, rugged landscapes where wildlife roams freely. It’s famous for geysers, alpine lakes, cowboy culture, and starry skies. Families and solo travelers find both adventure and calm here, from easy boardwalks and ranger talks to longer hikes and scenic drives.

Don’t miss Yellowstone’s geysers or Grand Teton’s peaks. Watch wildlife in Lamar Valley. Stay in Jackson for access and dining, Cody for Old West history, and Lander for outdoor adventure, plus scenic river rafting.

Location was incredible, 2 minutes walking to the city center. Property has lots of parking spaces so you can leave the car and walk everywhere. Super clean and super confy. Staff 10/10. There is free breakfast but is grab and go, nothing prepared. Our room had a fridge. 25min from Grand Teaton National Park, 1hrs from Yellowstone’s North entrance, 2hrs from Old Faithful Geyser.

This is the state capital and all government buildings are in a nice area with manicured gardens but nothing to do. The bars and restaurants etc are by the railroad station and are a bit underwhelming. We stayed one night and were glad to move on.

Such a gorgeous place.
Moran

Such a gorgeous place. Wide open plains, rivers and views of the Grand Tetons. I felt like I was going back to the days of the wide open West, but with the creature comforts of a car, heated cabin and restaurants. An amazing place to unwind and reconnect with nature. (Plus, I hear in the summer there are lots of outdoor activities - ie river floats, fishing, horseback riding...). So close to the Grand Tetons - and Yellowstone too. Great location.

One and only planned stops was the historic 'Trail End'...
Sheridan

One and only planned stops was the historic 'Trail End' Mansion. I found this stop to be fascinating. The home that a poor cowhand from Texas built even before he became Governor and than US Senator. The history and life John Kendrick is worth reading. A true American success story. I found getting around Sheridan easy to drive in. With GPS finding Trail End, was no problem.

Buffalo is a lovely small town.
Buffalo

Buffalo is a lovely small town. Alas, Super 8 , Wyndham was surprisingly disappointing. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was ok but the room was not clean. The floor had hairs and fluff on it and some surfaces were dirty. Yes, it was inexpensive compared with other places we stayed, but a room should be clean non-the-less.

Gillette

Gillette is a nice town in Wyoming. It is surrounded by coal mines, that are interesting to drive by and watch mining in action. There are a lot of oil fields, too. It is close to Devil’s Tower to the East and the Big Horn Mountains to the West. People are friendly and there are plenty of hotels and fast food.

Casper

I have been visiting family in Casper since I was a little girl. This hotel was very centrally located for visiting the family and places we had on our"to do" list. Casper is large enough to offer just about everything, but small enough that the traffic does not drive you crazy. Easy to navigate and go anywhere you wanted to go.

Rock Springs is a great outdoor adventure.
Rock Springs

Rock Springs is a great outdoor adventure. Also a nice taste of the West for those that love all things Cowboys. The area has many canyons to visit and includes a nearby park where you can take your children and dogs to walk or play at the Green River. There are canyons nearby to explore and in the Summer they have what is called the Big Show which highlights rodeos, clowns, vendors, animals and carnival rides. Every night popular entertainment is featured along with an after party. The place also offers unique shops and surprisingly has a variety of eateries including a Thai restaurant. Worth the stop.
