Rome's downtown was gutted by urban renewal decades ago and...
Rome's downtown was gutted by urban renewal decades ago and has been making a comeback, largely due to the beautiful Capitol Theater, although a tornado in 2024 didn't help. Plenty to see if you're interested in history and historic buildings. Lots of good restaurants in or near downtown. Foothills of Andirondacks close by, beautiful area.

When I saw the outside of the place I was oh man I think...
When I saw the outside of the place I was oh man I think this place is going to be bad. But we were surprisingly surprised with the room it was clean and decent. Not a 4 or 5 star by any means but for the price it was very good.

They rent out rooms to travel hockey teams during winter months. We had 45 teenagers running around the hotel playing hockey in hallways. Parents drinking heavily and unconcerned about their children. Hotel staff said the owner of hotel allows this behavior. The front desk clerk was overwhelmed and cleaned beer off floor and tables until 4am after the parents went to sleep.

Exceptionally clean. Nice details and comfort features throughout the house to make the stay more enjoyable. Huge bath towels and plenty of hot water. The bed was so comfortable I got the best sleep I had all week.

Decent hotel, clean, good sized rooms, indoor pool for the kids and a small gym that's good enough. Breakfast was fine with the basics... They also let us check out late, which was nice.
