The service was excellent. Our room was meticulously cleaned every day. Loved the fact that we didn't have to bring our own beach umbrellas and beach toys since the hotel was able to provide these. The location was also great since it is just a few minutes away from the "main" Coronado spots.

FAQs about hotels in San Diego

The Art of Easy Living

Sweeping along the coast against a mountain backdrop, San Diego has easy living down to a fine art. Its wonderful beaches and mild climate make it a favorite spring break destination, and with over 40 city breweries, there are plenty of ice cold beers to set the mood.

The city’s most recognizable landmark is the Hotel del Coronado, a wooden Victorian beach resort, now a National Historic Landmark. As original Spanish mission and first in California, it's has been relocated to the Mission Valley area, and Old Town San Diego still has many Colonial buildings and quirky shops. Also great for shopping are Horton Plaza and the boutiques in the beachfront neighborhoods.

The city’s most famous attraction is its zoo in Balboa Park, a few blocks from San Diego International Airport. One of the world’s largest zoos, it is well worth a visit, as is the fantastic SeaWorld, home to several killer whales. To see wildlife in its natural habitat head to La Jolla beach where harbor seals rest, or watch whales in season from Point Loma Lighthouse.

Just over the border from Mexico’s Tijuana, San Diego has a distinctly Latin American vibe and a variety of accommodations encompassing apartments, motels, B&Bs and hotels. See Booking.com for the best deals.

I feel like San Diego is the best that California has to offer. At least out of the three big cities. The people here are so friendly in general, there’s so much nice places where nature and the city meet in an aesthetic way (sunset cliffs, balboa park). If you can afford it, there’s some great restaurants downtown. And for those who’d rather spend a bit less on food, San Diego also has a ton of the American classics (In N out etc.)

I truly like San Diego for the weather, the Flora, the people are pretty nice too. Mostly I enjoy visiting because I have family to visit. This trip I finally made it back to the Zoo after all these years and it's big and beautiful. One day we walked around Balboa Park which is always a treat. We also enjoy walking around Old Town and having a delicious dinner - as well as breakfast at Richard Walkers in La Jolla. Speaking of which we made a point to enjoy the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla.

San Diego is a great place to visit.

San Diego is a great place to visit. There is so much to do and see, the weather was amazing, restaurants are superb. This time around I went to Sea World for a concert - E-40! Sea World experience in general was not great, but the show made up for that. I ate at Lazy Dog and Egg Yolk Cafe directly across the street from the hotel. Both were great choices, particularly the Egg Yolk Cafe for brunch - they had great selections both sweet and savory, drinks, and a great vibe overall!

Went to the San Diego zoo and Balboa Park.

Went to the San Diego zoo and Balboa Park. Had not been to the zoo in years and years and it was a real treat. Went by bus which was an easy ride from the hostel from sixth and Broadway. You can pay by your debit card which makes it easy. The trip bask is the same. The park is next door so you can make a day of it if you like. For eating I mostly shopped at Grocery outlet right up the street three blocks turning right from the hostel and continuing up market street on the left. On the right in the next block is a CVS drug store if one needs things like that. The Ralphs grocery store you turn left out of the hostel at the corner cross the street, walk one block, turn left and go down about three blocks on the left and there is Ralphs. Good selection, good sales. There are tons of things to do in San Diego and they have a board on the second floor as you get off the elevator just to the right in the little alcove with places, directions etc so you can take your pick. Lots of beaches, parks, tours and of course Tijuana across the bridge into Mexico.

The hotel is great for a long weekend trip as everything is at your disposal. The location was excellent, right on the beach. The hotel has a rental service of bikes, boogie boards, etc which makes it so convenient. Great restaurants all within walking distance, we even walked to Belmont Park which was a fun! The hot tub was great too, as many evening it was cool, and having that was a nice way to relax. The hotel remodel is modern, hip. The lobby is great to hang out and play boardgames, etc.
