Do not be fooled by the low ratings from years ago. Obviously there is a new ownership. Well maintained, clean, freshly painted rooms. Has all amenities (including fridge, microwave, hair drier, iron, ironing table, clean new towels, renovated bathrooms, usb chargers at the wall, good tv channels etc.). Very friendly staff. Location is generally good, but is between 2 freeways, so if someone is very light sleeper it may be a problem. However, the windows are apparently insulated so the noise was minimal and did not bother us. Good value for everything you need. Strongly recommended.

Absolutely stunning little town built around the...

Absolutely stunning little town built around the quintessential village-style railway station. In fact, try to arrive on your first visit by train - the station is breathtakingly beautiful. Leave the car at home - fantastic views, no parking issues, arrive in style in the First Class carriage with a complimentary glass of wine in hand. Such a quaint, picturesque, unique place, with some of the finest food, wine and craft beers anywhere in SoCal, boutique shops, spas, a petting zoo, old restaurants, modern restaurants, and the biggest antique outlet I've ever seen (60 vendors under one roof!), plus a very upscale antique store right across the street. Several hotels ranging from the budget to the downright oppulent in the Inn at the Mission which is a centre piece property perfect for weddings or romantic getaways. Simply incredible. Do not hesitate to visit. Oh P.S. - did I say 'arrive by train' first time!!!!!???? You'll thank me later.

The train goes right through downtown San Juan Capistrano.

The train goes right through downtown San Juan Capistrano. Having viewed it from the train, I had to visit. The Mission has beautiful gardens and a lot of history. I arrived there in the afternoon, but would have liked to have more time, so it is better to arrive in the morning. Check the website for the days it is open. There are many historic buildings, quirky streets, antique stores, and restaurants. Restaurant prices are high, but you are there for the experience as much as the food. The beach is nearby by car or bus, so allow another day to go there. MetroLink, Amtrak, and Regional Transit all provide service to San Juan Capistrano.

I have already reviewed but to add one more thing — the attendant behind the desk was rude. She was busy with someone on the phone when I came in. So I waited and waited. Finally got off phone after at least 10 min. Then started to help me. Started clicking away to see my reservation, the phone rings AND SHE STARTS HELPING THAT PERSON ON THE PHONE!!! Ok - all she had to do was say, I’ll be with you in just a moment AND PUT THEM ON HOLD while she finished with me!!!! She was VERY UNFRIENDLY. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.

Great little town with a real sense of community pride.

Great little town with a real sense of community pride. The town center has everything you could ask for - walkable, many restaurants, a long interesting history which is proudly displayed, movie theatre, live music, etc. Walking tours featuring the architecture and history of the town were very pleasant and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and proud of her town. The Inn at the Mission hosted a town Halloween Night Out with vendors, food and drink, and was very well attended by costumed both young and old.

Was a convenient location and a comfortable room. You have to pay an additional parking fee of $15 which I missed on description--it needs to be upfront with prices. Plus, you can only park one car; if you arrive in more than one you can't book a room and have to go elsewhere. That needs to be clearly stated.

If you are staying in San Juan Capistrano there is plenty to do. Go visit the famous Mission San Juan (where I went to school 3-8). The beautiful beaches of Dana Point and San Clemente are just a few miles down the road. After you hit the beach you could go grab dinner at the Dana Point Harbor, and do some shopping after.

A beautiful and immaculate hotel with impeccable service from every member of staff. The pool area is lovely and the other outside spaces are comfortable and very inviting - for example there are lights and fire pits everywhere. The food and drinks are very good and the access to other restaurants and coffee shops in the local town is fantastic too. A quick drive to the beach. What a great hotel.

The place is very stylish, nicely decorated and well maintained. It is located in the close proximity to the San Juan Capistrano Mission, and guests enjoy free admission. The pool was nice and clean, and the gardens were lovely.
