What Guests Said About Skagway:

We have been coming to Skagway for over 20 years.

We have been coming to Skagway for over 20 years. We have come on two cruises and the rest of the time we have taken the ferry from Juneau. Five of our children have worked in Skagway and three met their spouses there. Now, two of our children own homes there and 8 of our grandchildren were working there this summer (2026). We think its a great place to visit and to live. We love to come for the annual July 4th activities, especially the parade. Over the years we have done just about every excursion and visited every store in town. We have enjoyed them all. We love the train ride on the White Pass Railroad as well as the Yellow Street Car tours. We like eating at the Brew Company and Fish Company and always eat at least one serving of fry bread at the Klondike Doughboy and have an ice cream from the Kone Company. It is a beautiful little town with friendly people and plenty to do and see. It wouldn't be a trip to Alaska if we didn't go to Skagway.

The only reason we came to Skagway was to ride the train into Canada. And the train ride met our expectations. Other than that Skagway, in our opinion is just another town built up and owned by cruise ships.

If you are interested in the Alaskan gold rush history, this is definitely a place to visit. You must take a trip on the White Pass and Yukon railroad for the history and the scenery. Also drive over to the ghost town of Dyea and the Chilkoot Pass. We did both of those things while the cruise line people were in town visiting the shops and eating and we would return later in the afternoon and not have to wait in lines. Visiting all the places that the National Park Service have restored to share what life was like during those times were also interesting.

Sadly this hotel did not provide breakfast. Although the cafe did a breakfast burrito! The room was a bit dated but everything was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. I think it was coming to the end of the season and everywhere seemed to be about to pack up including the hotel restaurant!! (Mid September) The hotel was perfect for our requirements - one night stay in Skagway.

The History of the Inn is interesting, not everyone can say they have stayed at a brothel!! . Lovely quaint rooms, and near to everything in Skagway. Lovely complimentary breakfasts with such a lovely waitress. Curtesy shuttle was welcome especially on inclement days!
