Amtrak station stop right on Main St., Variety of restaurants and values for both the vacationing couple and a family. Vermont Salvage is an interesting place to walk through and marvel at all the great merchandise which is organized very well. Variety of small shops, thrift stores, live music in some of the restaurants, brewery, small parks, pleasant friendly people.

We stayed at White River Inn and Suites.

We stayed at White River Inn and Suites. I was REALLY looking forward to pool time over New Year's and was disappointed to find it was closed. Also, hubby had to go outside and across the parking lot to use the gym at the Holiday. We did love the proximity to several country stores! If it hadn't been pouring rain, we'd have visited the Gorge and other places. The downtown was still lit up with Christmas decos and was very beautiful. Nice quiet getaway.

It is near a major shopping area but in the other direction...

It is near a major shopping area but in the other direction is small Vermont shops. I went to Woodstock Vt to see a winter event and saw a " horse parade" and shop for almost 4 hours and loved the community.. They also carol singing a a few wood pits though out the community and a nice general store.

White River Junction is a historic area dating to the...

White River Junction is a historic area dating to the railroad era. There is an effort to make it more modern through art - there are galleries and art-related businesses. There are also a small variety of restaurants. It is a pleasant town to wander around - we were lucky to see it in the fall during foliage season.

We arrived by train and stayed overnight on Super bowl Sunday. Nothing was open for food on Sun night or Monday morning within walking distance, even though Google listed the restaurants as open. We had to place a delivery order that took an hour and 20 minutes to arrive and it came cold.

Had an overnight stay for various early-morning appointments at the WRJ VA Hospital (we live 1:45 mins away) We stayed at the Coolidge Hotel. Very charming and very comfortable. We ate dinner at the Elixir Restaurant. Should have a higher rating! Excellent food. OUTSTANDING server (Tony). He has it together and his recommendations were spot on.

Conveniently sited for the Lebanon area. Close to Dartmouth hospital. This was an entirely satisfactory hotel for our purposes. It’s in the process of a renovation but despite that it was comfortable and very clean. Vicki at reception really could not have been more friendly and helpful. The breakfast is basic but very good with cereal and cooked options. It was all we needed it to be for a night or two’s stay and next time we’re in the area we’d have no hesitation in using it again.
