We stayed at Blue Shutter House in Haenertsburg and absolutely loved it. The rooms are so nicely decorated, warm and cosy, and everything has been thought through so well. There’s a lovely room where you can all sit together with friends, such a comfortable and inviting space. The outdoor area is special, especially in warmer weather. The boma and BBQ area are perfectly set up and it has everything you need. The whole place feels very cared for, comfortable and fully equipped without feeling overdone. It’s one of those places where you immediately feel at home. We’ll definitely be back.

Haenertsburg is a beautiful and scenic village on the escarpment before you drop down into the Limpopo lowveld. The views are spectacular - especially if you walk up the hill to the best burial real-estate in the world. There are some mid-range restaurants and pubs in the town where the atmosphere makes up for any glitches in the kitchens. This is a great destination for foodies because you are surrounded by farms and agricultural producers who churn out some of the best fruit, cheese, jam, beer, honey, cordials, rusks, biscuits, meat and other products. Your taste-buds will thank you! The protected grassland and indigenous forests in the area are brilliant for walking and biking. I particularly enjoy visiting the Debengeni falls and the tallest trees in Africa in Woodbush. The Kruger National Park and other game reserves are also not far away.

the atmosphere is great. The welcoming party and hospitality is perfect. The fireplaces in the rooms is perfect. This is a place to go for relaxing. Could do with putting aircons in all the chalets for those very cold days

Traveling north, you don’t have to pass through...

Traveling north, you don’t have to pass through magoebaskloof. The blueberry farm is a stone throw away. Habibis serves the best Italian pizza. Everything is so close and there is plenty to see and do.

Awesome place, with a type of Clarence (FS) feel. A few restaurants in the main street with everything you need. From pancakes, Turkish restaurant, liquorstore, breakfast places and even a pizza den in the middle of a garden.

Haenertsburg is a lovely village.

Haenertsburg is a lovely village. We had dinner at Habibi, an authentic Turkish restaurant, great ambience and food, favourite was dessert - knafeh! We also ate at Red Plate, the crunchy burger and the brownies were amazing. Best to plan dinner in the winter for 17h30ish, Haenertsburg closes down around 19h00!

The house is superbly located, in the center of Haenertsburg. Hosts responsive, communicative and helpful. The property itself is very clean, designed in a mindful way, elegant. We liked it very much. You will find everything you need there; private bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, lounge with TV and tea/coffee facilities, swimming pool, braai area, parking and even company of wonderful ibis birds that love to stroll in the garden. We will definitely be coming back, when visiting Haenertsburg again.

We came to Haenertsburg to cool down from the hot climate in mid-Kruger Park. The historic character of the former gold mining town is well preserved in the hotel and with great attention to detail. The friendliness of the owners and their assistance and advice. We walked the beautiful walking trail next to the hotel through the original grasslands. They prepared us a takeaway lunch and coffee. We also had good food - grilled trout, and drinks in the Iron Crown nearby.

Position, Position, Position. great views and easy to sit outside enjoying them. Decent access to Haenertsburg and various attractions in Magoebaskloof. Basic building but nicely refurbished and maintained. Contact with host Lezanie was easy and maid Ennie was very helpful and flexible.
