Mavela Game Lodge is a luxurious safari lodge set among a stunning landscape. The tents are huge and masterfully designed and very comfortable. High marks for the wonderful bedding and outdoor showers. The whole staff is to be commended for their excellent work and hospitality. Their passion truly stands out. The food is of exceptional quality and very abundant (perhaps too abundant). Finally, the game drives were amazing. Vaun transmitted a great energy and ensured all visitors not only enjoyed but also understood the fauna and flora which we saw.

Mkuze itself is a little dreary however there are game parks...

Mkuze itself is a little dreary however there are game parks aplenty to choose from. We did a game drive in Manyoni which is a quick 30 mins from where we were staying. The Jozini dam is worth a visit, with its abundance of hippos, crocs and birdlife. There isn't anywhere really to eat other than at your accommodation - there is an engen and decent spa and a very good butchers in Mkhuze itself. A good stop off if driving through to Kosi Bay border to Mozam.

Mkuze is the best place to stay if you want to visit the...

Mkuze is the best place to stay if you want to visit the Mkuze Game Reserve. We saw plenty at the two hides - herds of wildebeest, impala and nyala and plenty of birds. It's about 60 km to the Memorial Gate entrance to the Imfolozi-Hluhluwe Game Reserve - we got up early and got there as the gates opened to spend the day in the reserve. It's also worth driving up Jozini and taking a boat out on the dam. The hotel has a great offering of tours with their own guides.

The inn was easily accessible from the main road. It was safe and the staff were excellent. The service was exceptional. A variety of activities are available or you can relax in the tranquil setting. Highly recommended 👌

I liked the privacy of the rooms and peaceful environment The plunge pool didn’t have warm water and it had frogs. On the first night we were given a menu with items which they didn’t have physically No lighting from the restaurant to our room and we came across a snake Saturday night.

Mpeti Lodge was beautiful and relaxing.

Mpeti Lodge was beautiful and relaxing. The morning and afternoon safari drives were the best part of the trip. Our guides were so knowledgeable and provided drinks and snacks in the bush and at the Jozini Dam while we were allowed to take in the land and views. The staff was most hospitable and catered to all our needs during dinning hours. Views from the executive suite was lovely, especially watching the sunrise.

Lovely part of the world that I have never been to.

Lovely part of the world that I have never been to. Loved the quietness and spectacular views. Will highly recommend for nature lovers. Mkhuze Game Reserve is a haven of birds and the Hiltop Lodge at Hluehlue Game Reserve has spectacular views. To maximise game viewing will recommend you visit at least two Game reserves around the area and also at different times of the day. We did a self drive as we wanted to pace our day and times but several of the lodges do provide guided ones which I felt were overpriced. Ghost Mountain Inn was our base for exploring the area and was a more beautiful Inn than the pictures online presented and staff are wonderful plus the food is really good with enough variety for all dietary requirements. There is also a Spa and two swimming pools for use by guests. We Loved it there so much we extended our stay by an extra night.
