Cottages in Nakatsugawa

this is a magical place. The place is actually better than the photos. The house is right on the walkway between Migome and Tsumago. The owners are such beautiful people and they will drive you wherever you need to get to for free. Truly the highlight of our Japan holiday. We highly highly recommend this place.

It was such a cosy place, it had all the amenities we needed like the indoor kitchen, outdoor charcoal bbq. The place is like a granny flat separate to the main house which was next door, and allowed good privacy. The host, Junko, was so hospitable and kindly picked us up and took us to the train station, she also made us something small to eat on our trip back to Tokyo. We loved how peaceful the area was, it felt like a nice getaway from the busy cities we had been to. Beautiful scenery of the mountains surrounding the house. We loved our stay here and wish we could have stayed longer. The bus station is a very close walk away and was able to get us to the Nakasendo trail easily, which we started from Asahigaoka Park, Nakatsugawa headed towards Tsumago-Juku. We had a wonderful stay at this property! The location is excellent — just a short walk from the station and a big supermarket, which made everything super convenient. Key collection was smooth and easy. It was a unique experience staying in a traditional-style house that still felt very modern, thanks to all the up-to-date equipment and amenities provided. The house was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

Such a wonderful sty in Magome. The house is beautiful, comfortable, and perfect location. They picked us up from the station, took us to the closest supermarket, helped us with checkout and train schedules, amazing hospitality! Thank you

The hosts were SO KIND, they really made this stay special. The house is a great representation of a classic Japanese home. It is perfect for children — the best place I’ve ever stayed for kids. Comfortable beds, and tons of space to spread out in the house. Absolutely recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at Anbaee. The hosts were exceptional and made a delicious delicious dinner for us, were super friendly and helpful, and hiked the Nakasendo Trail with us. They also gave us many suggestions on things to see and do in the area. The house is very spacious and comfortable and has everything you need. The house in the hills and only about 10 minutes from town. We highly recommend Anbaee and can’t wait to return.

It was nice to stay in the typical house. Location was convenient for what we wanted and calm which suited us well.
