Beautiful and comfortable cottages! You can preorder nice Japanese bentos for breakfast and lunch which is great for hiking. The family who run the place were very nice and helpful. They warned me of my ferry cancellation due to bad weather and refunded my first night at the last minute. Couldn't recommend this place enough!

The place was lovely! Right on the shore, overlooking the water. It had everything we'd ever need - comfy beds, spacious living area, well-equipped kitchen. And stuff we didn't even expect - a sauna, a plunge pool and a bunch of beauty and styling products. Our stay was very chill and quiet, and I'm very happy we chose to stay at Sakura Yakushima!

South Coast House was truly incredible. The house is beautiful in a way that even the pictures don't fully communicate, and the location is unbelievable. It is a bit far from the main town (~45 minutes by car) but in such a beautiful stretch of coastland and near several onsen. Truly a perfect place for enjoying such a wonderful island. Additionally, the hosts were amazing. They helped us book a rental car, and when we had trouble with the car on our final day, they let us borrow their car to make it to the airport on time. Such kind and generous hosts, and a beautiful location! I will be coming back to Yakushima, and when I do I will definitely stay here!

Great surprise after 5 minutes car driving inside the montain is a very peaceful area. Very nice room, spacious, confortable with a lot of facilities. I arrived by night and was completely amazed by the view.

Honestly the most comfortable beds I've slept in over 6 Japan trips with a cumulative 5 months traveled in this country. Would come back here just for the beds! The home itself was beautiful, easy to find, and had a large parking area. Kotatsu was very cozy and comfortable, and it was nice to have a washer/dryer, kitchen amenities, etc. I also want to highlight the amazing hospitality, for the owners helped us book car rental, and when we got stranded on yakushima due to inclement weather (with all flights and ferries cancelled), they reached out immediately to let us know about the cancellations and helped us find accommodation last minute in another one of their properties down the road (as this one has already been previously booked), which was also SO cozy and beautiful. They even spoke with the car rental agency for us and organized our new drop off time/location. Such amazing service, and will no question stay at this property (or one of their other properties) next time I am in yakushima :)
