The Hideaway is in an amazing location in the middle of the jungle. We spent a lot of time just sitting on the balcony looking at the birds and wildlife. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the breakfast was amazing, with lots of ingredients picked fresh from their garden. The pool is a treat as well.

Our stay at the villa was absolutely wonderful! The place was peaceful, clean, and beautifully maintained — the perfect spot to relax and unwind. We really enjoyed the calm surroundings and had such a fun, comfortable time throughout our stay. Everything was just as described (if not better), and the staff/hosts were kind and welcoming. Would definitely love to visit again soon!

In brief, our entire experience was exceptional! However, we would like to provide a more detailed review for solo travelers and couples like us. When we travel, we primarily seek privacy, leisure, and comfort. Even though this property follows a homestay concept, it offers everything needed for a relaxing stay. What truly stood out was the opportunity to experience authentic village life. Every morning, we watched as they cleaned their compound using an ekel broom, and around 8:30 AM, we saw them processing their homegrown rice by spreading it on traditional mats for sun-drying. The best part? They always shared their harvest with us! The food was absolutely delicious, featuring traditional Sri Lankan dishes alongside English breakfast options. They were also happy to accommodate special food requests. A special mention goes to the owner, whose warm hospitality and constant check-ins about our preferences gave us a motherly sense of care. Every fruit juice they served was freshly made from their own garden! We also had access to a microwave and all necessary cooking utensils, which they provided without hesitation. While there wasn’t a personal refrigerator, the owner kindly stored our food in theirs and returned it whenever we needed. One of the most impressive aspects was the peaceful environment. Despite the presence of house helpers, we never heard any noise from them. Instead, we were serenaded by the beautiful songs of birds. The property is just a five-minute drive from the main road, with plenty of tuk-tuks available at the junction. However, since we preferred discretion, we asked the owner to arrange one for us, and the arrangement was perfect. Additionally, I must commend the flexibility of the staff. I had to change my reservation twice due to our tight schedule, and each time, they humbly accepted my request. Their responsiveness via Booking.com chat was excellent, answering all my questions promptly.

I am fully satisfied with my stay at this wonderful location! It truly felt like a 'home away from home' due to the incredible hospitality. One of my favorite parts of the stay was waking up to the peaceful sound of birds singing in the morning—it made the atmosphere feel so calm and natural. The breakfast was delicious and authentic, and the evening tea was a perfect, thoughtful touch after a day of exploring. The environment is clean, comfortable, and very welcoming. The hosts treated me like family, and that genuine care made all the difference. I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Pinnawala!
