Very clean and gorgeous view from the dining terrace. Rooms were clean with comfortable bed and balcony included. Loved that the bathrooms had toilet seats you could sit on and that toilet paper was provided. Most public bathrooms don't offer that. Warm shower was also available! Stephanie was very accommodating to our needs as we planned a 3 day trek around the terraces. Delicious local Filipino cuisine was cooked and served on the property. She provided us with an excellent guide, Herson who spoke very good English and was very knowledgeable about the history of the terraces. He always made sure safety came first. Climbing hundreds of feet of stairs and descending narrow steps often times without rails at high elevation was challenging and dangerous if you lost your balance. Our tricycle driver June was also there to drop us off at the trailhead and was waiting for us at the end of our trek.

This is a place like no other in Sagada or even in the Philippines. Far from looking like a little “theme park hotel” based on the famous books and movies, it is a genuine place which makes the most of its naturally tranquil surroundings and whose architecture perfectly blends in the nature for a peaceful and serene retreat. The rooms are extremely comfortable with unmatched amenities and view. The owner Michelle is the best host you can wish for, her assistant Pepe will go the extra mile for you and the chef prepares delicious breakfast and meals. Whenever we’ll be back in Sagada, we’ll be back at the Shire.

The location was great, the host was really friendly and helpful and even lent me a local sim card while I was there. The kitchen was big and well equipped, the house was traditional and cosy. There was a yard with buckets and water to wash clothes. They arranged a massage to visit the house for me and a guide for the places I needed a guide to visit.
