Cottages in Barberton

Everything was excellent! Very peaceful place.

An absolutely fantastic place to stay in Barberton! Windsor Cottage was a true home away from home for the two weeks we stayed there to do geological fieldwork in the Barberton Makhonjwa Mountains. The kitchen is so well equipped that we managed to host a dinner party for 14 hungry geologists, the shower is always hot, and the garden with braai and vervet monkeys is a fabulous place to wind down after a long day. Desire and Saskia were incredibly helpful and very responsive, and were so flexible to arrange an extra bed so that we could stay there with 5 colleagues. A fence protects you from intruders - except for the cute cat 😺. I have stayed in several places in the Barberton area but Windsor Cottage is the one I will return to on a next visit. Highly recommended, whether you're a tourist or geologist.

Dawie was the ideal host – friendly, welcoming, and always willing to assist whenever needed. Much appreciated. Our room was spacious and well-equipped, offering ample cupboard and storage space, a smart TV, free Wi-Fi, a bar fridge, a microwave, and the basic cutlery and crockery required for a comfortable stay. The parking area conveniently located next to the unit was greatly appreciated. The bathroom was generously sized and featured a large shower fitted with an instant geyser, ensuring a constant supply of hot water. This eliminates the occasional challenges sometimes experienced at establishments that rely on solar or gas geysers. Afpak is conveniently situated next to the R40 and enjoys a beautiful setting. The surroundings create the feeling of being at a bushveld resort, with a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere that makes it easy to unwind. We will most certainly return to Afpak in the future. This establishment is ideal for campers, travellers requiring overnight accommodation, construction workers, and anyone looking for comfortable, affordable lodging in a tranquil environment.

Sitting with a cup of coffee looking at the beautiful mountains was a treat at this peaceful home. The unit was incredibly neat and clean with super comfy beds. Thank you to the host and her family for being so friendly.
