We absolutely loved our stay at Vetera Matera. We had a very late arrival, around 11pm, and the staff were beyond accomodating. Our transfer shuttle met us at the packing garage and the communication was seemless. Giovanni was at reception upon check in, and was an absolute delight. Francesco was also very helpful, with wine and snacks ready when requested even at such a late arrvial time. Both were so proud of the hotel and the area, full of great tips and lots of history about the hotel and the area. Our room was amazing, we had a terrace which was so great to see the view late at night. The breakfast was lovely too, and we were sad we were only there for one night! Can not recommend this hotel enough. A great location to discover the town, with the friendliest of staff! (Fillipe who carried our bags up and down those stairs and drove us back to our car was amazing as well).

This boutique hotel is impeccable. The staff goes out of their way to overlook all details. Enza, the owner, is present and involved with the guests. She even took care of arranging the right city tour for us. Eating at their terrace resraurant is a double treat. The food and wine are excellent, while enjoying the view of the city change from day to night.

Conveniently located in Piazza San Pietro Caveoso in the Sassi di Matera, Sant'Angelo is a diffuse hotel whose rooms are arranged in a maze of caves, reached by alleys and steps.

The whole hotel facility and how it was set up was great. Our room was so tastefully decorated and beautiful, the view from our patio was amazing. The breakfast was fantastic with a great choice of food. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The location was excellent, so close to everything but quiet. Highly recommended.
