Guest Houses in Onomichi

We stayed one night during our 2-day biking tour on Shimanami Kaido. Location was perfect: close to some good restaurants and basically on the bike route. We stayed in a mixed dorm, which was very clean and well-organised. Common shower rooms were very clean. The luggage transfer to our next stop (which was the bike rental in Imabari) worked perfectly.

I literally loved the place! I think it is going to be the best hostel I ever slept in! Beautiful Japanese style place, you can enjoy the garden view from the tatami common area, the dorm is very spacious and beautifully decorated, even the showers are amazing with mosaics!! Chill and spend time in the common area was a real pleasure. Staff is friendly and lovely. I stayed two nights but I would have stayed longer. One morning I had the Japanese breakfast and it was delicious (and cheap!). The cafe is also beautiful.

Hosts Percy & Carolina were so welcoming & kind. The breakfast was great with a choice of several tasty options. The bunk beds are very comfortable with privacy curtains & a locker for valuables. Super clean. There is also a small courtyard where you can safely leave a bike overnight. Convenient location an easy walk from Onomichi local train station, bike rental places & a supermarket with a wonderful range of food. I met some lovely fellow travelers & extended my 3-day stay to 5..

The room had an amazing view over the water. There was a large leather couch in our room, which was super comfortable. The location was great: close to the station and the ferry for the Shinanami kaido and also in a shopping center.

Staying here was a definite highlight of our trip! The guesthouse is absolutely beautiful - full of history and in the most incredible location right underneath Senko-ji temple. I would recommend staying AT LEAST 2 nights - 1 night is definitely not enough to soak it all in. Sitting in the cafe overlooking the city was an absolute dream. The cafe is open to the public but is also a space where guests can eat and drink their own food which felt really nice and cosy. The walls of the rooms are basically decorative so you really can hear all the other guests staying, but I was pleasantly surprised at how considerate all the other guests were of noise and everyone was so quiet after 9pm. I could not recommend this guesthouse highly enough!

Though the location is quite mysterious, especially in the evening, the guesthouse itself gave an exciting and charming atmosphere : small sign, back door entry, painting on ceiling and vivid color of stairs. I love these so much. The single room was in ryokan style which is nice and comfortable mattress. They had everything in need; even umbrella which I appreciate so much cause it rained on that day I came.

Ease of use, clean rooms and facilities. Back to basics travel when adventuring. Comfy sleeping.

Everything was absolutely amazing, and especially the service. The owner is so kind and helpful. He helped us out so much and even drove us to the ferry. If you are ever in Onomichi don’t hesitate to book this place, the kindness and hospitality of the owner alone is enough to make the stay worthwhile.

Very clean and spacious enough for 1 night during the Shimanami Kaido. Host was very friendly and also let us leave our bags while we enjoyed the town. Would stay again.

Authentic vacation stay, amazing food, and extremely nice host. Everything was amazing she was nice and was very accommodating. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a real home cooked meal and a rest stop during the shimanami kaido.

We stayed 2 nights at the property, and would highly recommend it. Yuji and Yunko were very hospitable. They picked us up at the ferry and at the bus stop after the bike trip. They helped us with the bike rentals. We even shared a beer in the evening with them and their daughter Nao. They spared no effort to make us feel welcome. The room is actually the 2F of a small house on Mukaishima island. This means you get a lot more space than most hotels. Everything is clean, and the beds (twin beds) are fairly comfortable. The neighbourhood is quiet. A convenience store and 24/7 supermarket is close to the Inn, although we didnt go there. Island Country Inn is easy to reach from the Onomichi train station (not the shinkansen one), the ferry to Mukaishima is short and frequent, and as mentioned they provide a transfer from the terminal to the Inn. We found it an ideal location to do the bike day trip over all the islands/bridges, and we would certainly stay there again.

Super friendly and helpful staff that went above and beyond for me. Great beds! Lovely balcony. Good breakfast. Fantastic value. Highly recommend.

Great location. Decor was fabulous. Outdoor deck great. Nice towels, fridge, sink, stove. All great.

Owner is very nice, he took us to the train station in early morning. Very big room and comfort Feel like home

Good location - right on the main shopping street, about 14 min walk from the station, but able to catch local buses 4 min away. Very clean, good amenities, spacious. Really close to ropeway. Big smart tv.
