Against my previous experience with a hostel, Samesun blew my expectations out of the water. It was lovely being there, everyone was so nice, the place had a modern feel, was clean and the staff were lovely.

The very first thing we noticed was the frieliness and helpfulness of the staff! Jake and the other employees we met were just terrific! Secondly, there were laundry facilities, microwave, fridge, utensils which we did not expect but were very welcome. This is a historic property so we enjoyed that aspect also. This property was very centrally located to much of the city so that one could walk. We took the hop off hop on bus to other locations less accesible. If you needed a cab, they were right there and reasonable. Staff called the cab for us! I'd stay again!

Amazing facilities, great location, a bit expensive but the cheapest hostel in Vancouver. Awesome evening experiences too! Staff would go above and beyond, clean, great kitchen and bathroom facilities - travelled the world and can say I’m very happy with the hostel

We stayed in one of the private rooms and it was very clean, spacious, and had really comfortable bed/bedding. The shared bathrooms were close to all rooms and I never once had to wait for a shower or toilet. The free breakfast was surprisingly good! I think some of the poor reviews are from before they renovated this was a great hostel. Highly recommend also for people other than backpackers who need a budget place to stay for an event in Van

Only stay here if you’re desperate, poor even for a backpacker. Mattresses on floor as shown in photos, not even beds. None of the smoke alarms are working. Host said they will check/change.
