I arrived in Berlin without having had time to book a place to stay, and I realized it was right in the middle of peak season, so I couldn’t find decent accommodations at a reasonable price—only fancy hotels charging 1,500–2,000 euros per night. So I had to look for alternatives. Airbnb wasn’t an option—you might have the same bad luck I did, where they freeze the money on your card and then tell you that, unfortunately, the host didn’t respond, and you’ll get a full refund after a few business days. Obviously, during that time, you won’t be able to use the money you set aside for accommodation anywhere else. Thanks to the good reviews, I ended up at East Seven Berlin for a more than reasonable price, staying in a 4-bed room. Although at first, as a tourist over 55, I was hesitant about whether I’d be able to get some rest in a hostel full of young people between 18 and 25, I was pleasantly surprised to find that my roommates were considerate, tiptoeing around to ensure everyone else’s peace and quiet. The staff at the front desk was more polite and helpful than is often the case at 2- or 3-star hotels. Cleanliness, good Wi-Fi, good location. I can give it a 10+ rating.

The place is very cozy and located in a quiet neighbourhood. There is a metro station 10 minutes' walk away and a bus stop 2 minutes away. The owner, Nelly, was super nice and made the stay very special. They keep the place very clean, which is important. Rooms only have 2-3 beds, which is a huge plus. I had a little closet with a lock, the kitchen area is spacious with coffee and some pastry in the morning. The hostel feels very safe with all the doors having code locks on them, so no one from outside can enter at night. The hostel also has a very pretty yard with a bunch of pots with flowers, benches and a little daybed. On top of that, you can always buy some pastry and coffee from the cafe that is adjacent to the hostel. Owners are very welcoming and don't mind you storing your stuff for a few hours before or after your check-in or check-out. I truly felt at home and would definitely stay there again if ever in Berlin again!
