Loveliest hosts ever, stayed late so they could check us in, gave us complimentary coffees the next morning, recommendations of things to do & places to eat. Rooms were excellent, we had four people, two in dorms two in single rooms, both were great, clean & cozy. Location is unbeatable, on the beach with a gorgeous view. Price was great for all rooms.

This is a beautiful traditional Japanese guest house on the island of Yuge. We spent a night here while biking the Shimanami Kaido trail. Yas, our host, was super kind and helpful. Fully equipped kitchen with free coffee and tea. Nice shower. Towels can be rented for 100 yen and laundry machine use for 100 yen as well. Very comfortable tatami beds. Close to a very good izakaya restaurant for dinner as well!

One of the best places I have stayed in during my travels throughout Japan. Exceptionally clean and well organised with an open common area, comfortable beds, and wonderful views of the town, river, and train(if you like trains like I do). Right next to the main street that runs through the town. Walking distance from practically everything you'd want to do. Staff were kind and attentive. A credit to the town.

GNARLY OWL is located in Shikano and features a garden, a shared lounge and a bar. All rooms come with a shared bathroom with a bidet, a hairdryer and slippers.

Owner is a super friendly and chill guy, great to have drinks with. The room i stayed in was a traditional one with tatami floors and a futon bed; both weren't too hard yet comfortable enough.
