The atmosphere and layout of the guesthouse has such a unique and wooden feel. The lounge areas are extremely spacious and comfortable and the amenities are sufficient and well maintained. For a guesthouse on top of a bar, this far exceeds my expectations.

Very nice people, clean facilities, cute bar downstairs, with spacious rooms and delicious breakfast (paid). It was a very enjoyable experience. Please do mind that most activity plays at the other part of Matsushima, which is about half an hour walking.

A cute guesthouse, super happy with the facilities. We stayed in the tatami room, its a bit small for 3 people, but for a short stay it worked perfectly and the futon were comfortable The staff is nice and helpful and the little kitchen was great to have a coffee the morning or cook in the evening

I stayed one night at the Yamagata Guest House. The staff was very friendly and kind. Facilities are amazing! They have a huge fully-equipped kitchen with gas stoves, free tea, coffee and condiments. The hostel is located in a refurbished school which it looks like to be also a community center, there are other business in the same building; pizza restaurant, cafe, gym etc… never seen any place like it! The hostel walking distance from the station, Lawson, drug store etc… If you want to travel to Ginzan Onsen this is the perfect location and an affordable price.

Royal Hotel Odate is located in Odate. Free WiFi is available and private parking can be arranged at an extra charge.
