This backpacking hostel/lodging house is perhaps one of the most unique and interesting places I’ve ever stayed in my life. I felt like I was inside of Alice in Wonderland. Every corner of the space was an interesting tableau. It’s like I was at the mad Hatter’s tea party, but only in the best of ways.

Tombstone Motel, Lodge & Backpackers features elevated views of Picton Harbor and the surrounding mountains.

Short walk from the ferry is a plus! We arrived prior to check in and enjoyed the common area which is fantastic. We sat outside and relaxed and were quickly checked in to our awaiting caravan - a nice retro space which was super comfortable. They have everything you need here for such an affordable price - including yummy breakfast scones! If you’re hiking the QCT, this is a great place to stay, meet fellow travellers, and you can even leave a bag if you plan to return after your trek.

I stayed there for over a week. It’s Superb backpacker vibe with a home feeling. Located in downtown, 6 minute walk to Woolworths. Owner is enthusiastic, informative, and responsive, taking good care of house cleaning daily. Bedrooms and living rooms have sufficient blankets and heater to warm up in winter nights. Kitchen is tidy, organized, and fully equipped making it easy for cooking. Highly recommend for great values.
